and also, would the 94 lx heat shield fit right over the 95 ex headers? is it better on or off? and what are the benefits for having ex headers?

It will fit, but the the oxygen sensor location is different on both.

Can someone give me an idea of what different brands are out there for headers? I want something nice but relatively inexpensive.

I think you can get ahold of an OBX racing header for around 150. Other than that, better quality used ones such as DC sports or Pacesetter come up on eBay every so often, you just have to wait for a good deal.

Well, i figured it this way, the less money I can spend on my 1994, the better, as long as its up and running, functional, the header isnt too big of a deal to me. A friend of mine might be getting me a Bosal one at a decent deal, he is becoming a dealer for them, are Bosal a worthy investment?

Well, I've never heard of Bosal, but I looked around online and it looks like their header retails for around 315 bucks. Price doesn't necessarily make a good product, but it can be an indicator. I also found out that Bosal apparantly makes a lot of OEM exhaust systems for vehicles, which are going to be of mid or upper range quality since they have to be durable enough to last a while so recalls can be avoided. If he can get you a good deal, I'd say go for it. Just out of curiosity, is it s a 4-2-1 or a 4-1 ?

I am not sure, however the header I have currently is a 4-2-1...which is better?

It depends on the tubing diameter of the '2' part of your 4-2-1. But as a generality, 4-1 is going to have a slight advantage since the tubes tend to be smoother than in a 4-2-1 transition.

I am considering the header that is stainless steel and will cost me the smallest amount of money. I dont want anything too crazy, just something that will take the place of what I currently have.

Default Header

So why not go to the junk yard and just get a used one for $25? Port it out yourself because you will see equal gains with DC Headers. Literally zero gains with DC. Pacesetters have a rep for cracking and are truly cheaply constructed. There really aren't any good headers out there for the F-series. I remember one company made a killer race one but it was over $750. Junkyard it and call it a day... best advice from someone who wants their $400 back from DC.
