Default Thinking of getting an RSX Type-S..Have a few Questions

I currently have a 95 accord, and I am planning on getting a newer car.

I love the Acrua RSX's, espically the Type-S, but I have a few questions...

How much should I expect to pay for one? I want 02-05 model

Is black leather standard?

The type-s are 6spd right?

Are they pretty reliable? I know my honda has almost 150k miles on it, and since acura/honds are pratically the same..?

What is the best CAI for the money?

Is the type-s a good choice for a 20 year old?

Thanks, I might add more if I can think of anything.

yes everything u said is correct... from what i have seen the injen race division is the best CAI but that is just my opinion, im not sure about the price of the car... insurance might be kinda expensive, they are all 6spd, and they all come with leather interior (type-s)

I want black interior, but not leather, but I could always get some nice seat covers.

If I get one, I want either gray or black. I found an 03 type-s with 30k miles on it for 15,000, I think I might get it.

Well first off, if your looking for the older models, it's 02-04, and not 05.

1. It all depends on year/mileage/condition. The price highly varies.

Ex. I got my 2002, 41k miles, perfect condition, and a quality sound system for 16k. A pretty decent deal.

2. Leather is standard on the Type S, it is not black leather however. Different exterior colors mean different interior colors.

3. Yes the type S is 6 speed.

4. Honda is always reliable.

5. Well most CAI all perform and cost around the same. I'd personally go with a Fujita F5, like many others from ClubRSX do.

6. Ya, I myself am 20 and got the car a few months ago. I love it.

a base model will come with the k20a3 with a 5speed or auto. the type S will be about 40horsepower more and come with a 6 speed. the insurance for me is about 40-60 more a month higher than a base. You can get a base model for as low as 12k, the earlier years and the 05 type s will still run about 18k or more.
cold air intakes are all about the same. just depends on the look and name you want although it doesnt matter in my opinion

Hmm, I might just get a RSX non Type-s and put the money I saved into the engine, possibly turbo/sc? Definetly wheels and tires.

Hmm this is a tough decision.

get a type-s man
you'll regret getting a base if you want performance even, if you boost it
i've seen boosted base hitting 250whp, but a N/A type-s can do that too

to answer your line of questions
1. 02-04 models i've seen go for around 14,000-17,000 ; 05-06 used go for 18,000-22,000
2. all type-s is leather in two different colors; ebony(black)/titainium(light gray)
3. yes, all 6-speed; base is 5 speed or auto
4. yes, very reliable; be careful of misshifts though, high-compressed motor + bad redline =
5. as said above, fujita cai is the best one to get for the price
6. type-s is good for any age, i'm 24

1: What you pay will really depend on the condition of the car, and where you are. In AZ you should be able to get a good low mileage car for 13-16k.
2: Depends on the exterior color.
3: Correct, all Type-S cars have a 6spd manual.
4: My car has been extremely reliable. Only problem so far was the remote door lock operation on the drivers side. It was repaired under warranty in 1 day, and a loaner was provided.
5: I've heard good things about Injen.
6: Depends.
Pros----------
- The car is great fun to drive
- very economical
- good commuter, with good handling, power, and stopping
- Looks pretty good even by current standards
- With rear seats folded down, AWESOME cargo capacity

Cons---------
- It's pretty gutless unless you wind it up
- Tends to attract idiots that want to rev at you
- Requires premium unleaded
- Back seats meant for children or midgets only
- Getting to be more of a theft target as K20 swaps become more popular

My advice....
-try to get an 05+ if you can afford one.
-get an insurance quote before you do anything.
- dont get a base, you will regret it.
- very reliable car, with great looks
-Injen CAI is the best bang for the buck

I personally think the type-s is a great transition car. Its grown up compared to other cars in its class (look/luxury), yet it's still youthful and fun if that makes any sense. I actually get a lot of compliments from older people which is kind of surprising.

who was the guy that said a rsx type-s is more reliable than a s2000? Are you out of your damn mind? Did you know how to drive your s2000 or maintain it properly? probably not. A honda s2000 is a much better built car than an rsx-type s. My brother. just recently hit 145k miles on his car, all he did was replace the head, and clean the sludge, boom brand new. Sorry that just made me chuckle... a lot.
