Speed: Si coupe vs. Si sedan
So I've read numerous threads that've talked about speed comparisons of the Si sedan vs. the Si coupe. I remember hearing that the sedan is almost a second to slower to 60 -- but I've also read that it would be a "driver's race." If the coupe is in fact a second faster, this would hardly be a driver's race.
Are there any reliable sources that compare the two, or at least give a semi-accurate measure on the Si sedan's actual speed?
Thanks!

I'm thinking about an Si sedan, so I looked into this. The sedan is about 60 pounds heavier than the coupe. Everything else is pretty much the same. Sounds like a driver's race to me - skill and weight - I know drivers that are 60 pounds heavier than I am.
I've never driven a coupe, but my 4 door Si seems to be fairly quick for stock. I've owned an ITR and 2 EVO's and honestly it seems to be eqaul to the ITR although it's been a while since I drove it stock and only subtly different from the EVO at highway speeds, obviously no comparison off the line. With only a 60 lb difference, it would seem to me to be a driver's race.
Interesting.. That would be something else if 60 lbs could make that noticable of an impact on 0-60mph. Not a bad weight difference considering slightly more glass weight and all the impact beams, motors and regulators. Man I love Honda

yea has to be a drivers race because the driver in the sedan can weigh 160 and the driver of the coupe could weigh 220...now its even so truely its a drivers race

The standard in 1/4 mile has kinda always been 100 lbs per tenth of a second. Not quite sure how that works out in zero to sixty, but I don't see 60 lbs making a seconds worth of difference. A big reason I could bring myself to buying a sedan was that it only weighed 60 lbs. more, thought I might be able to keep up with the coupes.
alright so what about the aerodynamics of the two cars, wheelbase difference, suspension differences...anyone know any differences here...sure the straight away would be close but how about an actual course with turns...
The second slower thing came from a magazine that had tested a coupe, and then a few months later tested a sedan. The coupe did a 0-60 of 6.7, while the sedan was a 7.4
This doesn't sound unreasonable. I see different magazines report different numbers on the same cars all the time. Launch techniques and conditions vary, and there are differences between individual cars too. I'll bet if they used the same driver under similar conditions (air temp, gasoline, tires, miles on engine, etc) and used several examples of each type of car, the times would start to come a lot closer. Do you know what magazine it was - I'd like to check out what they have to say about it.

I just happened to be reading Motor-Trend and they said that the Sedan was about .2 yes 2 tenths of a second slower... That said anything under 75lbs. is a drivers race.
Magazines cant be trusted either..... like I siad I have a magazine stating that it does 0-60 in 7.4 seconds which is like .7 slower than the coupe.
The only way you can trust a magazine is if they somehow correct their numbers to represent the exact same climate conditions at the exact same track with the exact same driver. Not possible.

Actually it's more on the order of 60-70 lbs. more for the Sedan

From Automobilemag website:
"In our tests, the sedan, which is 59 pounds heavier than the coupe, took 7.4 seconds to reach 60 mph, versus 6.7 seconds for the coupe."
They don't have an explanation for the difference in times, but I doubt you can blame the 59 lbs.
I looked at Edmund's, and the 0-60 times for various tests of the '06 coupe range from like 6.8 to 7.5. Pretty volatile, so small differences don't mean much. I'd be interested to see what C&D gets out of the sedan - they correct their tests for weather conditions and seem to launch all of their test cars pretty aggressively.

C&D seems to be the least variable because of their methodology but it still is a crap shoot unfortunately.
