EX Manifold cover plate?
So I am in the process of swapping my motor out for the y8, and I can't really figure out what the little plate is on the manifold. I don't really know what this is for. It looks like there is one little hole for each runner on the manifold, but I don't know what the purpose of it is. The whole section is before the injectors, so I don't know what would be mixing or whatever it is. Any help is appreciated. I mainly want to know if gas gets in there to know if it is safe to just use hondabond rather than buying a new gasket. Thanks.
no, it's not heatshielding. I wish I could find a picture of it. It's right before the fuel rail and it crosses all four runners, but the heat shielding would not have holes that pentrate the runners I thought. Maybe it is something to do with cooling? I don't know
Just a suggestion, maybe vacuum lines? I deffinitely think it'd help to have some pics. Can you upload a few or maybe get a friend to do it if you don't have a camera?

There's the whole manifold

A close-up of the area in question

And that is the bottom of the 'plate' that goes over it
Maybe now people will know what i am talking about....

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation, it puts some exhaust gas back into the intake during light load cruising conditions to reduce NOx emissions. It's strictly an emission control. You'll have the EGR valve that actually controls the flow of gas into that chamber, and that chamber distributes it to each cylinder.
