Thinking of Boosting my 98 ITR
I posted in the ITR forum about this. Here is what I posted:
I know the Type-R's perfection is N/A. Most people say they would just do an all motor set up. I love the car inside and out, but to me it just lacks a little power to put you in your seat. Again yes the car wasn't made for power or straight line racing but rather the track. Overall I love everything about the R other than the power issue thats why id rather boost it and be happy as opposed to buying another car with more power but lacking in so many other areas. That is my thinking and why I plan on boosting. So much for keeping it stock
With that said, im looking to boost on stock internals (give it a few months ill be building this motor haha). I wanna keep it simple so that if one day i wanna go back to stock I can. For all you boosted ITR owners, what are the downfalls of a boosted R besides the greater chance of wear and tear and breaking parts. What setup would you suggest for a stock internal setup. Im guessing Ill be at 4-8 PSI, and what kind of numbers am I looking at? Key here is RELIABILITY making good power. What can I expect to pay once its all said and done?
I did my searching, and yes got alot of info but alot has changed over the past 5 years thats why im posting. I wanna hear it directly from the boosted folks! *Zips up flame suit*
So now, that I have pretty much made up my mind to boost, whats the best turbo kit out there? Price dosn't really matter, but I dont wanna spend money I dont need to. I wanna stay on stock internals, but I may want to buy a good kit now in case I ever change my mind down the road. So taking all recommendations on good kits!
I was told this full race setup: http://www.full-race.com/catal...d=469
or Peakboost.

Why?
Why?
Greddy kits don't make any power on Honda's. To add to that, their emanage units are a waste of time.
If you are looking for a simple bolt-on and go, then PeakBoost or Full Race would be your best choice. Custom is always a good route to go with as well.
Reliably you can run 8psi all day long on a stock block with proper fueling, EMS (Hondata, AEM EMS), and tuning of course.

Peakboost, check classifieds. Nice kits. Just add tuning!

Price wise. the peakboost kit is the ****. IF you've got the money to spend. The full-race kit is as nice as they get, robotic tig welds. You can't go wrong with either. 8psi on a stock ITR with a good tune should put you well into the 300whp range. It'd be a great street setup and reliable.

save yourself the money and do a bit of research on what makes up a nice turbo kit. For a street drin car you dont need the fancy ram horn manifolds that cost almost if not $1000. You can buy the same exact components, buy an inline pro cast manifold (which will never crack, break, and ppl runs 9's on), and you can have a set up how you would like it for less money. I started out in the turbo world with a greddy kit and very soon out grew it. I realized that the money I spent on that i could have done a litle research and peiced my own kit together with better parts and for the same or less amount of money.

Ok so Peakboost or Full Race kit, now the question is With PS/AC or Without PS/AC. Any suggestions and why besides the obvious of not having AC during the summer. I definately want powersteering though. I think my fiance would disown me I had no AC.... do both have the option of having AC and PS?
I know the greddy kit has a great street power band as I sport the TD05-18G for my B16A. They only thing that sucks is the downpipe for the kit.
Do you need testing for emissions or is your area exempt from that crap?
I pass emissions yearly by switching from AEM EMS to the stock ECU and crappy blue box. Check my sig for power (@ 12 psi) The greddy kit is PS and AC compatible. I think peakboost does carry a kit that retains both now, but call them up. GET A GOOD TUNE

this man speaks the truth . piece together a kit and have fun with it . i figure 300whp would be sufficient for a fun as hell ride . it would net you low 12s and tkae down 96% of the other cars on the road .
