Goddamit my rear hatch will not even stay open. Spent half an hour looking for the correct term. What's the name of the two strut/dampener thingies that hold the glass hatch open? What's a good brand to go with?

ok that's a start, now what are they called? Hatch Hydraulics/shocks/struts/dampeners/dampners/dampers?

 

i think struts... i got mine from a junkyard for 5 dollars.

they're called Trunk Struts, ebay actually gave me results w/ that one

Try Pepboys for them. I know they have them cause I got a set from there for my 90 ls. They're like $22 from there. I think the dealer sells them for $43 a piece. Oh btw they are called Hatch Struts

 

i dont really see a point in buying OEM hatch struts..just go with a pep boys or autozone

I work at autozone, we call them hatch lift supports.

At honda, we jsut call them hatch or tailgate struts depending on application. Simple to understand

 

When you call for them, just try your best to describe them and I'm sure they will know what your talking about... If all else fails I do believe they are called <U>Hatch Struts.</U>

 

dealer price for that part is expensive... even with shop discount it's still pretty expensive compared to your local auto store
