Default How to get the best out of my Type R's?

Well, I have a rockford fosgate amplifier. I was wondering, am I getting the best out of my subwoofer? I have one so far, I'm planning to buy another Type R.

I'm pretty new to this so leave the flaming out of here, my friend opened up his amplifier and started modifying it. (I wasnt sure what he was doing but yeah later his subwoofer starts punching out more and sounded better) I'd ask him to help me out, but I hardly can keep in touch with him.

So anyone know what I should do to get my amplifier to get the best out of my Type R?

The specs are..

Q-Logic Box? (I forgot but it's sealed and everything) Dual-Chambered.
Alpine 10" Type R SWR-1042D
Rockford - Punch 1275W Class AB Bridgeable 2-Channel Amplifier with Variable Crossovers P850.2
Rockford Fosgate wires, (I bought the installation kit for 1500 watts)

But yeah, any advice? My Type R's barely kick out. It sounds nice but I think it has more potential then that!

Oh, I read the manual, strange but it told me nothing about tweaking it and such.

Those subs are DVC's, how are you wiring them? If you're wiring them correctly and still want more bass, you sould upgrade to dual 12's. Your amp can dish out 2550+ watts!

The R/F P850.2 is a 1x850W RMS into 4 ohms, not stable below 4 ohms when bridged.
Your sub is a DVC 4 ohms, [500W continuous] so not sure how you have it wired, [2 ohms or 8 ohms, probably 8 ohms as you say "My Type R barely kicks" but sounds good] either way, not correct for that amp.
I would get another sub parallel the VCs, [= 2 ohms] and wire the subs in series, [= 4 ohms] and 1x850W RMS into 4 ohms is a little underpowered but should drive the Type Rs pretty good and as long as you do not overdrive the amp into clipping should sound pretty good also. 94

Hmm, well the way I have the subwoofer wired is for one subwoofer. Not quite sure how to explain it, but I wired it the way my manual told me too. I put one amplifier one subwoofer for 4 ohms.

Basically, it told me to put one jackers into the these 2 slots, and then I plugged in the wires inside my Q-Logic Box. Then in the back, I plugged in the wires that was connected to my amplifier. I have 2 more wires available for another subwoofer, should I set it up the same way? I haven't bought the other Type R yet.

Did I set it up wrong or something?

OIC, you are only using one ch. of your 2 ch. amp, you need to "bridge" the amp, instead of using the pos.(+) and neg.(-) of one ch. of the amp, use the pos.(+) of the left speaker output and the neg.(-) of the right speaker output.
However this is not possible with just one DVC 4 ohm sub, [as it can only be wired to 2 ohms or 8 ohms] unless you wire it to 8 ohms.

I would pull the sub and check the wiring to see how the sub is wired, it may be wired in series to an 8 ohm load, if that's the case bridge the amp, this may help... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/supp...d=161 use the top left one, [1 DVC driver W/VCs wired in series]

If you get another sub use the wiring diagram below the first one, 2 DVC drivers W/VCs in series/parallel

First, pull the sub and check and see how the VCs are wired, [parallel or series] there is no way to wire it to a 4 ohm load " I put one amplifier one subwoofer for 4 ohms." the load has to be 2 ohms or 8 ohms, there is no 4 ohm option when using a DVC 4 ohm sub. 94

Yeah, I think that's how it's wired. The Type R has actually 4 rows.

[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] <-- like that.

I plugged a jacker into [ ] [ x ] [ x ] [ ]

Then I plugged in red positive wire into red side, and black negative into the black side.

That's how the manual told me to do it. Is that proper for my amplifier? I'm planning on buying another Type R but I'm on quite a tight budget.

OMG, you're only using half of your DVC Type R. Your woofer has 4 terminals, wire up the other 2. Once you do, you will have twice as much bass.

I would suggest doing as fcm said and get another type r and wire them in series. Your box is really hurting you hear. Q-logic boxes are trash. Go to lowes, get you a sheet of 3/4in mdf, wood glue, and 1 1/4 inch wood screws and build this> http://img34.imageshack.us/my....m.png
Thats a 2 cubic ft box tuned to 34hz which would be pretty sweet with 2 typre r's.

Dang, lol. I already get a ton of clean bass from one Type R. I don't even want to imagine another! I'll pick one up later.

OIC, just as I thought, you used "example 1" "one subwoofer one amp" "8 ohms"

That is correct, but I think you have the red and black, [pos.(+) and neg.(-)] from the sub connected to only one ch. of the amp, one ch of that amp driving an 8 ohm load is only 110W RMS, "no kick but sounds good" bridge the amp... http://www.rockfordfosgate.com...26653
pos.(+) of the left ch and neg.(-) of the right ch, although still a little underpowered, [1x425W RMS into 8 ohms].

Once you get the second sub, use wiring example 4, to wire the sub [one amp, 2 subs, 4 ohms] again a little underpowered but will sound fine. 94

Sweet alright. There's kick, but not enough as I seen from other subwoofers.

Useless how? By suggesting an AMP that will power a TYPE R perfectly without any problems?

You don't want my opinion fine, go ahead and fry your subs and amp man.

Yeah "how to get the best out of my Type R" would signify that you're ****** something up that's not causing you to get the power you need. AMPS supply power to the subs genius. Either your amp is too small or your wiring is jacked. So who's the real dumbass.

The real dumbass is YOU. You misread my post, what I ment was how to get more POWER out of my Type R's using my RF Amplifier. As I stated, I saw my friends open up his amplifier to tweak it up, and his subs started punching out more.

My god you're one dumbass.

Well here's some food for thought dumbass. The amp you have isn't really designed to power one Dual 4-ohm sub, which is what you have. It can do a pair, but not one. So before you "open up your amp" and do something stupid, you might wanna get a second sub or just switch the amp. But if you're too cheap for that then do what you want. It's your system.
