New Al annodized Lug Nuts...imported by Mackin Industries(made by Rays)
Hey guys...while at the International Auto Salon a couple of weeks ago I had a conversation with the General Manager of Mackin Industries concerning lug nuts, and the problems that I have personally had, or have seen with Aluminium lug nuts...specifically galling, stripping, and overall shoddy craftsmanship. After the conversation he agreed to send me a set to see what I thought of them prior to the lug nuts actually hitting the market(they're importing them into the states in June).
From what I was told these nuts are made by Rays out of 7075 Al...which is much stronger than the 6061 that the majority of the Al nuts are made out of. The lug nuts have an annodized finish, and the blue nuts are almost the same color as the Spoon calipers...forgot to take pics of RBoosted's car with the Spoon calipers and the lug nuts
. As you can see they are packaged in 4 nuts per package with a current retail of $25.00, final price is yet to be determined, most likely it will be a little less $$$.
I'll try to get some pics of the nuts installed on my car...the blue nuts look rather nice installed on my black itr and Mugen MF-10's...

I'm going to have to take another pic of this and have someone translate it for us...Yoshi

Cool little tool that I received...it's basically a spark plug socket with plastic inside so that you don't scratch the annodized finish.

And here is what they look like on a set of Volk LE-37's...17x7, formerly installed on a RSX.

Do they make them with a spherical seating surface so they can be used with the OEM wheels?

That's something that is currently unknown to me...I'll have to inquire with Mackin Industries the next time that I'm speaking with them.

Ken - you don't need to run open ended lugs for your street/autoX setups. I wouldn't even bother with the "new" lugs from rays.
McGard!!!! I got mine the other week, and will be putting them on for the first time tonight! One really neat feature is that they have a 'floating' washer on the contact area, which allows the nut to spin with out marring the surface of the rim!!!
.....so are these new rays lugs better than the ones i currently have?

the Rays nuts that are next to impossible to obtain here in the states.
