Buy a new car or mod it
Hey guys...I have a CG5...and Im in a dilemma...so tell me what you think...
6th gen lx doesnt have ABS, rear disk brakes, cd player, sunroof, alloy rims, fancy climate control, and i also have an automatic...
so the whole ABS, rear disk brakes, rims and manual tran thing is really attracting me...
so i have a choice of modifying my current car or i can sell it and just buy an ex 6th gen...but i dont know which one...so let me know what you think

Go for a 5th gen accord with low mileage, Obviously much more awesome hah.
Despite me loving 5th gens, I would advise maybe getting rid of yours. The 6th gen automatics have been known for having serious tranny problems. It can be a hassle so a manual might be an improvement in many ways...

I have considered selling my 6th gen for a 5th gen...but I know nothing about the differences between the two generations...and I dont know if i wanna trade downwards you know?
it doesnt hurt, read up on the quality of 5th gens, they are astounding and are like tanks. I love my car dearly and wouldnt trade it for anything except maybe a brand new car. Aside from regular work I've never had anything seriously wrong with it. Even the automatic transmissions last forever...
If you get a low mileage car, you won't be crying. Your best bet is one around 90,000 and make sure a timing belt change has been done since they need to be done at around 90,000mile intervals. Might save you a bit of money or time.

I would only do a 6th gen if it was a manual, and stripped of as much weight as possible. Like start with a DX if you could find one, then slam it. I think rear disks are unnecessary, drums will stop you just as well, they just get hotter.
Avoid the V6 if you get a 5th gen as it was the first generation of them.
Honda is all about the I4, IMHO

I think people like 94'-95' 5th gens because they are the better looking ones of the 5th gens, and aparently people like the ODB better also.
94'-95' are primarily the same
96'-97' are primarily the same
I do have faith in 6th generation automatics but not as much as 5th gens.

You only trade "downwards" when you go with a domestic car! Trust me!
Japanese cars.... regardless of the year... are never a bad deal! They are always built for life!

Just so you know the 24 Valve 2.7 Non Vtec V6 in the 5th gen has been around for a few years prior to 1995 when it was introduced in the Accord. Hint Hint Acura Legend.
That motor is solid too, I own a 1995 EX V6, 92K original miles no rust

lol, hard to find parts for a 5th gen accord? Rofl. It's so easy it isn't funny.
First you can go to the junkyard and find 5 million 5th gen accords. Also if you get the stuff from a mechanic it isn't that hard. It might not be the cheapest but its not like a VW or something. Despite that, make sure the car is in good shape, obviously, and remember the thing I said about the timing belt.

yes, which you can modify by changing the existing parts with Acura ones. It's a slight modification and I don't think it's that difficult, but makes them rotor over hub. There is a post on the cb7 forum and apparently it works from 90-97

the only down side to it might be cost in the beginning but if you have the car long enough it might be worth it, especially if you have a mechanic change your Hub over rotor, rotors because maybe you're to lazy/buzy at the time. They charge a lot more because they are hub over rotor.

The 5th gen accord is not as fast as the 6th gen tho right? Since they weigh about the same and the 6th gen comes with 20 more horse power? but what are the potentials that each of the two engine has? or they're just about the same?
To me, it makes absolutely no sense to mod your car to be a stock ex when you can just buy an ex. Or modding your car around the idea of upgrading to an ex.
I've had both a 5th gen and a 6th gen and i like them about equally. I think the 6th gen has a more modern look, both interior and exterior but doesn't look necessarily better or worse. I actually think 5th gens look slightly better but also pretty dated.
The one thing that is pretty different is if you plan to drop it. I modest drop on 5th gen looks much better than a modest drop on a 6th gen. If you plan to dump it, it doesn't really matter.

Accords have steadily been getting heavier so...
Mine is 2800, the 99' Lx is 2980
Accords aren't meant to be fast anyway so.. don't make a big deal about it.
Mine can haul *** though... so I'm happy.
ALso they only come with 5 more HP
mine has 130, 6th gen has 135
same for ex models
5th: 145
6th: 150
