Ok recently about 2 weeks ago i installed a I/E/H the weather has been a little cold but the install went perfect, but now i've been hearing this knocking sound kinda, as if there was an empty spray can in my engine, it only happens in the cold weather and when the car is at idle, after the car has been on for more than 30 minutes and been driven its fine theres no noise at idle, all my coolant levels are fine, my oil is fine, i bought the car with 27050 miles and now have 29562 im gonna be doing an oil change soon, but im wondering if this problem is more serious? i also drive my car hard comin home at 100+ in the highway.. any ideas?

 

What grade of fuel are you using? And how often do you drive you car @ 100+ on the highway coming home?

 

93+ and about every weekend i do 100+

 

Did you reset the ECU after the installs?

 

yep ever since than the noise started no engine codes no nuthing.

 

Damn, pull the plugs and check for detonation. If your plugs are fine I wouldn't worry about it. Could you have forgotten to reinstall a small bracket or could a heatshield be hitting against something?

 

detonation say what ?? what should look for when i take it off burnt? or something.

 

Look for specks of white on the elctrode.

Nope checked no white powder, everything is A ok, i started up the car no noise... but no detonation so.. i dont know what it could be. by the i dont have a heatshield on.

 

I'm out of ideas, but at least your engine is running fine. I guess it may be a belt.

 

valves perhaps?

 

I dont know its not a continuous thing, i mean right now i turned the car on fine no prob, full tank of gas no noise.

 

well considering that it only does it when its cold, I still think its your vavles.

 

sounds like a valve problem to me...when it's cold they open a little more then when it's warm...not sure tho

 

yeah if its at idle, you may need to get your valves adjusted at honda or.....my ticks too but nothing from the normal h22. There should always be like a soft clicking from the motor. I think its the injectors clicking on and off....
