If i get a split boot with grease, how do i install them? is there a way the grease has to go into the joint or do i just put it in the boot and then clamp it on there? I haven't looked at the joint yet without the old boot off of it, but im thinking i just wipe the grease all over the joint and then leave some in the boot and clamp it.

Also, does a full size tire fit in where the donut does?

those cv boots are junk. fill up full with grease, clamp shut, wait to go bad again.
full sixe spare will lift trunk cardboard in the air

is it a bad fit for the spare? i'd try it but i don't want to jack up my car and take off a tire to find out. if it sticks up too much i don't think i'd like it, but i hate having a donut on.

 

Yah just replace the whole shaft...I know that Checker Auto here has lifetime replacement on them here. Thats what I did

well i would except its not bad, it doesn't click or anything. And my boots just ripped.

Also i've heard alot of horror stories from places that aren't honda for alxes. Plus i probably will when i have to change my brake rotors since i have to take them off. I'm just looking to do something for now to keep them fresh and stop flinging grease all over my wheels haha

 

If the boots are torn open, just wait until they start to make noise. There's no point in replacing the boot because you're not sure as to how much dirt has been working through the joint and bearings.

As for the aftermarket axles.. I've seen more than handful of problems with them ranging from ABS, vibration, improper fit, etc...

 

theres no way to clean them out. I honestly don't know what they look like in the inside, and it was like $40 for 2 boots and grease if i want to get it. I mean i probably should replace them anyways since i have 118k on my car, and i will need to do my rotors too at some point and i will have to take them off to get to the axle so i could just kill two birds with one stone.

but i don't want them to go bad faster than they should

 

thats why I was saying just do the whole axle, if its $40 for two boots w/o grease...the whole axle with the boots is only like $50 and you don't have to mess with grease.

I haven't had any issues with my "after market" axles, and who cares if I do, lifetime warranty so
