This conversion is most useless. You need to get a bigger master cylinder and your e-brake will not be as effective w/o drums. Want to spend wisely? Buy some Hawk pads, Brembo blanks, and Earl's SS brake lines...noob...

 

It's a great swap and the parking brake is better than ever AND it's far easier to work on. Even if you don't need the added braking, just being able to bleed and swap pads in 10 minutes makes it worth it to me.

 

The parking brake should lose its efficiency. You go from a drum which has a whole shoe that expands and holds the drum, compared to a small caliper that holds a rotor in place. If anything, the drum setup should be better. Anyways its an overrated and is more cosmetic than anything. If you're really concerned about safety get better pads and rotors on your front wheels.

No, I'm saying drum brakes are better for holding on a hill when parked (ie: e-brake). The money and time it takes to convert to discs is way more than it takes to put a good set of pads and rotors on. People think with disc brake conversions their cars are going to stop 45% faster, and when they don't they become discouraged because they were misled by hype. Yes, it may be slightly better, but its negligable when dealing with all of the other useful mods you can do.

99-00 Si, direct swap! I did this on my hatch!

 

For those that did the swap, did you swap Master/Booster and Prop valve?

On a 96-01 DX you do not need the prop valve, stock is the same as a 99-00 Si.

lol , i did a rear disc conversion because the rear drums was f*cked up on my car
