Default Bouncing idle? *UPDATED, read last post!

Hey guys I just picked up an h22a civic ek and it was running fine as for we were looking at it for about 3 weeks. Everytime you start the car, it revs itself to 3000rpm and drops to the normal idle, i believe this is normal because it is looking for the egr valve....but thats not my concern, my concern is that yesterday after the car wash and i do believe a little water got into the engine, not a lot just a little but after this we turned on the car and it started revving itself bouncing back and forth between 1200-2100rpm...it wud stop after 30 seconds but then if it did it again we wud just tap the pedal so it revs a bit higher and it wud stop, anyways we started driving home and thought it was normal again but no the car started jerking a bit and doing it again, we took it home, let it run for 30 seconds and it was still doing it so i turned off the car, we looked in the engine but nothing was wet....what do you guys think the problem is, thanks guys!

I have the same problem. Mine is a VAC leak at the manifold intake gasket.

I pulled the IACV and checked the filter and it was clean.

Then I sprayed carb clean on the throttle body base and the bouncing continued.

When I sprayed the manifold intake gasket where it meets the head, the idle stabilized which means thats where the leak is.

I would check this first. It can be other things as well like a map sensor.

But IMO, I think you have a VAC Leak.

ok so now i started the car today and it revved itself to 3000rpm (looking for egr valve) and it stayed there for 2 seconds then went down to 2000rpm and stayed there until the car warmed up and 3 minutes later stayed at 1000rpm for idle.........plus the check engine light is on so I am unsure if this is a problem.

Sounds to me like it has something to with a vacuum line.

check the tps sensor. mine was doing something similar and that was what was wrong. it is on the back of the throttle body and you just unplug it and if it stops you know that is the problem.hopefully that works for you.

i am taking it into my buddies shop FOR SURE this weekend, stopped and JUST today out of nowhere it does it again going from 1000-2000 back and forth then if u rev it past 2000 it goes down to 1000, then if u tap the pedal it bounces again between 1000-2000, so i tapped it to 3 again and went even lower then 1000 and repeated till it went to 0 and almost stalled but didnt, im thinking there is a vacuum leak, or i just gotta clean the iacv...im getting the code for the check engine light this weekend aswell... OH and also everytime it would go down to 1000 or lower the check engine light would go on, when u rev it over 2000 it turns off.....its so strange, maybe all this has to deal with my heater core being cracked and leaking into my carpet.....(crack...leak....bubbles...)could be anything, it takes time to check i guess.
