Might buy my first R tomorrow, need your help!
Ok, so hears the story. It's a black 00 theft recovery (he says), salvage title obviously. Has a 00 LS motor, GSR interior, suspension, and wheels. Front and rear bumpers are new and unpainted, no lip. No abs as well, wasn't this stock for all R's?
Anyway, he says he picked it up for dirt cheap in Long Beach recently and just needs his money back out of it. He's only asking $4500 OBO. Does this car sound familiar to anyone? Any history?
If you know anything, any info would be awesome. I'd love for this to work out and join the R family finally (yeah its not 100% R, I know), but it kinda sounds fishy, so I don't want to get my hopes up. Thanks guys.

any pics of this car? does it have a VIN and did you run a check on it yet to ensure this guy isnt just trying to "get rid" of it?
if its legit, essentially you are paying 4500 for an LS. assuming its in good shape and everything is clean, 4500 for an LS isnt bad.

Thanks P Nut, thats what I thought. Maybe thieves or seller removed it.
And RTW, I haven't seen pics nor do I know about the VIN yet, but I do know what to look for to ensure it's an R chassis. And assuming I still want to buy it tomorrow, I'm sure I can get the price down.
Thanks for the input, up for more info/possible history.

you're better off buying a clean title ls/gsr for that much since thats what you're pretty much getting but worse

bingo
bingo
This is supposedly a theft recovery, without any accidents, which is the only reason I'd consider it. And I don't want another LS or GSR, I've been looking for RS's for a while and then this came up. So the choice is between a high mileage, older RS or a newer, lower mileage, theft recovered R. I'm basically wanting the chasis, all the other R parts would come later.
I'm all for saving an R; just make sure he is the legal owner, title in hand. Make sure the VIN starts JH4DC231...
I don't know, you're in Cali, so you'll get ITR attention(cops, thieves, and haters) without having an ITR to enjoy.
If you want to take on such a project, more props to you. Just make sure you keep heR safe as you rebuild or she'll end up a stripped shell again. You don't plan to build this caR to DD, do you? GL on the decision, keep us updated

I say NO! Just save up and buy a REAL itr! theft recovery and/or salvage title sucks! plus it has a LS motor in it with GSR interior! You say you don't another LS or GSR, fine you'll just get both in a R-shell which makes no difference, yeah you'll safe an R, but nothing's left of it. Down the line you'll wish you saved up for like another 6-12 months to an actually R. Just my 2 cents

disagree
start with the shell and all u need are seats, lugs, engine, cluster

$4500 is what I paid for my 1996 JDM ITR, when I purchased it from Japan in Feburary last year
. I love the Caribbean life, no emission or noise laws. You can drive around the city all year round with open header and never get a ticket

an r is an r regardless of drivetrain or missing added parts. 4500 sounds like a good deal for a working integra, plus its hype rr!!

not with a salvage title and basically missing everything its not.. it's worth 3k, tops, I'd say.. anything more and you're overpaying..
