Default Intake Leak?

I have a 90' Accord and wether its warm or cold the RPM will bounce from 1k to about 2k or higher. But sometimes when this stops the car idles steady but it still sounds rough. And when your driving the car if its around 2,000 RPM and you give it a little gas it will whistle pretty loudly, but thats the only time you hear it, except when you shut the engine off you can hear air escaping from somewhere. Would these 2 problems be related? What would be causing them, I have been told it could possibly be an intake gasket. Also, if it matters before this problem occured the car was driven pretty hard.

Yep, Intake leak. Be sure the coolant is burped of air thru the 12mm bleed screw at the T-stat housing; If that isn't the FIX then you'll need to open the top of the FITV and turn the nylon 'split screw' in a couple turns. then try it with a cold engine.

If you need to search for other vacum leaks, let the car idle and spray some carb cleaner in the suspected areas, if the idle changes you have found the leak.

If it 'whistles' then theres prob. an obvious line broken if you look around.

Thats the problem. I know its leaking somewhere but since i haven't found a broken line yet could it possibly be a leaking intake gasket? And would this lead to a bouncy idle?

Once AGAIN.....If you need to search for other vacum leaks, let the car idle and spray some carb cleaner in the suspected areas, if the idle changes you have found the leak.

So vacuum leak, wherever its coming from, will cause the bouncing idle?

I still don't know if I should look to solve 2 problems. Or if one fix will fix both problems.

did you do what Hondadude told you in his first post? cause those will eliminate some possibilities... which are easy to do.

Yes I tried those, but I guess no one who read this post really know. My main question is that I know theres an air leak, somewhere, but will this leak cause the idle to surge and drop like it does?
