Hood lever
ight, so yesterday i poped my hood, and when i went to shut it, it kept not shooting so i tried kicking it shut, slamming it, the last time i tried closing it it went all the way down and latched., but now my hood lever is very loose and it isnt opening the hood. how can i go about fixing this problem? it doesnt seem broke or anything just seems like somehow theres too much slack in it. any help is greatly appreciated
This is a common problem with the 92-95 civic I don't know about other years. The lube on the latch assy gums up and the cable return spring can't pull the cable back. All that needs to be done is to degrease the latch assy relube it while a friend works the handle inside the car you might have to lube the cable right where it enters it covering. I sounds like you broke something when you forced the hood to close. You might have to open the hood from under the car and fix what ever got broken.
to re-open it try gently pressing down on the hood while someone else pulls the lever inside the car.
next time your hood won't latch, don't be a moron, you simply need to slide the lever back under the hood to reset it.
