Default how to remove lower dash panel? 00civic

okay i'm trying to do the wiring under the dash for my fog lights and a 00 civic.

When I try to pull the dash (after removing the 3 bolts) it won't come out. The installation instructions mention 2 clips holding it in. How do I release the clips without breaking the mounts? I know I could just yank it out and snap the plastic mount, but I'd rather keep that in 1 piece. Any suggestions would be great, thanks. Oh yeah, I tried reaching my hand in there, but squeezing the clip with my hand didn't compress it at all

Um ... you yank it out.

The clips won't break, they're pinch clips, they're supposed to just press in and yank out.

Kids these days .... ****, I never asked questions this inane. I just went and worked on my car.

I think I'll wait for 1 or 2 other comments before I decide to give it a nice hard yank.

Last pinch clips I yanked on (plugs in my engine bay) either the clips or the plastic mounts/ brakets they were attached to broke.

If you look at how the clips are made, they're relatively solid. You don't rip it out with the strength of a bull elephant or anything, but just hold the panel near the clip, and pull firmly. It's a piece of FRP with a metal clip on it. Worst thing that'll happen .... you pop the metal clip off the FRP. Then you just find the clip, slip it back on, and violah! .... problem solved.

I've only taken my dash panel off like ... fifty times.

so grab my dash by the top part and give it some good tugs?

didn't realize it's a metal clip pinching the plastic. makes more sense since it's not that latch type that you compress to release.

I knew I should've taken pictures, haha.

It wasn't hard About an hour of marking the outline to cut along and cutting and measuring and I was done Took me probably 3 minutes to wire the engine bay since I had genuine OEM. I think my OEM replacement bumper was better prepped for the fog cuts than an original OEM, had an outline of the actual cut along with the smaller outline mentioned in the installation guide. I would do a DIY writeup, but I essentially followed the instructions of the official installation thing haha. I can post up the link if you want
