I just did a whole car sawp
basically a motor, harness and interior swap into my 96 ek shell.
Everything is wiried up correctly, so i go to fire her up and i keep blowing the under-hood 15A ECU fuse
I blew 5 fuses
they blow as soon as i turn the key to on, so i could hear the fuel pump.
all my grounds and wiring is good.
anyone have an Idea.

I would go threw it and make sure no wires are pinched. Real easy to do. Unplug the fuel pump and see if it does the same thing.

 

ok i disconnected the fuel pump and its still blowing the under-hood 15a ecu fuse.
i searched and can't any problems in the wire harness. could i have a connector in the wrong place?

PLZ help, i tried everything iam down to my 3rd pack of 15a fuse

 

do you have any gauges or vafc or any thing like that i had the same thing happen to me and removed all that and the motor harness and the reinstall also open the ecu up i burned that up to

 

Unplug your main relay above the ECU behind the glove box. then try again. that supplies power through the main relay to the ECU then the injectors, evap solonoid, IAC and both O2 heaters.

 

Your grounding out somewhere. Start tracing your wiring all the way back from the fuse.

What were you doing to your car when it started doing this?

ok i unplugged main relay and i turn ign to on, and it didn't blow the fuse, but as i plug back in the main relay and turn ign to ON.
It blows the under-hood ecu fuse.


Is there a eaiser method to see where iam grounding out at, instead of having to pull out the heater, glove box and dash to trace the harness?
The entire dash and harness came from a running car.

would a bad o2 cause this?

doubt it.

this actually happened to me too. i dont know how i fixed it, but i just bought a new distributor. seemed to work fine. oh and btw i changed the 15v to a 20v which is ******* stupid. god im so stupid and my car sucks.

it blows the fuse even with the distributor off.

 

did you check the coil? maybe the coil is bad? it could be a possibility.

 

I took off dizzy and it still blows.

UPDATE!!!

I stripped down dash and bust out the helms.
I traced the main relay wht/blk wire to the under-hood 15a FI/ ecu fuse. None of the wires are pinched or opened. I keep blowing fuses and i can't figure out why.
When i unplug the drivers side engine connector, i don't blow any fuses (well half of the dash lights don't come on anyway).
I used the helms and traced all wiring, everything seams good.
what other option i may have??
I also tested the main relay and it's working fine.
i tried numerous 15a and 20a fuses. I blew em all.

once agian this only happens when i turn ign to on.
instead of hearing fuel pump prime.
I hear CLack from a blowing fuse!!!!
I been at this for 3 days str8.

this happened to me also, it turned out to be an exposed wire running to the fuel pump relay under the drivers dash, it was a black wire with a yellow line

 

is it the blk/ yel wire pluged into the back of the under-dash fuse box?
I've serached my whole car. not 1 wire is loose/ exposed. could it be something in the engine?

 

does anyone know, where to look for a short between main realy and under-hood fuse box 15a.
so i was told by the helms.

best bet is to pull the dash out and look for exposed wires, and dont put the dash back in until the car starts

If it's the ECU memory fuse then it could be your radio's constant 12volt wire (on an EG anyway, not sure on yours), most Hondas this is a yellow/red wire if I remember correctly.

Otherwise, get a voltmeter, test the wire for continuity to ground, follow it back until you find the short. You could also be putting power where it doesn't belong.

Don't say everything's wired correctly because obviously something isn't.

Ok i think i have a long day ahead of me tommorow. i'll be pulling the dash.
could i be able to start the car with the just the basic.
harness
steering colum
ecu
cluster
relay.

 

I would start by unpluging everything that is run of that fuse. the things I stated before. No the radio doesn't run off the fuse you have that is blowing. if you unplug those things and it still blows, It's a wire shorted to ground somwhere. if it doesn't blow, it is one of those components that is bad.

 

the only thing run off that fuse is the fuel pump and ecu.
I unplugged ecu and fuel pump and it still blows the under-hood 15a fi e/m fuse.
I ran the wire from the main relay to the under-hood fuse box.
its a wht/blk wire.
I don't know where it leaves the box and goes to.
Could i just cut and splice a new wire from relay to ecu with my own fuse in between.
