Mugen S1 Racing Bucket Rail fit on Spoon Carbon Kev Bucket?
Hi, this may be a shot in the dark question, but I was wondering if anyone may know if the Mugen seat rails for the Mugen S1 seats will also fit the Spoon Carbon Kevlar Racing Buckets?
The Spoon and Mugen Buckets seem to be similar in design and shape. I like the Mugen rails and sliders better than the Spoon Rails and sliders that I have seen available.
Thanks for any info.
-Michael.

So A & J,
Is that a definite yes?
If so, can you get them for me? This is mike yun. I need a set as soon as possible. I have a set of spoon rails for Ek and they don't fit on one bolt hole. Please let me know if you can help me out. I can send you my EK rails if you have any need for them, I don't need them for my DC2.
Thanks guys,

Spoon no longer sells the seats. They now sell the new version which is in my car. You might be able to get the old ones if someone had them stocked away somewhere, but most people normally just move towards to the Mugen seats since they are the same thing minus the covering. Or try the Recaro SRG like Law has in his car. Those are sweet and also can come in carbon.
Oh yeah also when I sat in the Mugen/Spoon seats I fit very tightly in them. So it might suck if they were gonna be daily used seats.

According to geometro, who did some measurements for me to see if I could fit Mugen rails on Sparco Evos, the side mounting points of the Mugen S1s are 390mm apart front and rear and 290mm apart fore to aft. If you can get someone to measure the Spoon seats, you should know for sure.

If you're going to get a bucket, make sure it's FIA certified.
And for god's sake, don't get a bucket if you don't have rollover protection.

The Mugen is not FIA certified. Don't know about the Spoon.
What is wrong with a bucket seat without rollover protection? I though the issue was with harnesses?

oh yeah thats too. The Spoon and Mugen seats are not FIA approved which means that they are not legal race seats on most track or drag strips that require them.
So Mike,
Are you saying that the Mugen Rails will fit the Spoon Buckets for sure? I need to know because I want to order a set of the Mugen sliders as opposed to the Spoon ones. But I want to be sure that they will fit the Spoon buckets.
All, both the Mugen S1 and Spoon/vision seats have 4 holes on them, 2 on both sides. Those holes are for the rails and sliders. I need to know if the Mugen rails/sliders for the S1 will bolt up to the Spoon seats without having to redrill holes into the seats (which I would rather avoid). Thanks.
Norice,
I am confused on the measurement #s you gave me. 390 front to rear is on one side between the two mounting bolt holes from the left side of the seat to the right side correct? And the 290mm fore to aft is the distance between the 2 bolts on one side of the seat to the other right?

Normally they would fit the seats, however Spoon has been shipping out these difrerent seats that are not the same as the Mugens or old Spoons. When I was at Spoon they told me that they were no longer making the Spoon/Mugen style seats and that they were now using the Vison style seats for their cars.
If I were you I would just order the Mugen seats to make sure because a friend bought the Spoon seats direct from spoon and had then shipped to his place and they were the Vision style seats. As for if the Vision style seats work with the Mugen rails I don't think so.

290mm is the fore-to-aft distance between the mounting bolts on each side of the seat. (This appears to be an industry standard - Sparco and Momo side-mount seats both use this distance.)
The side-to-side distance between each pair of mounting bolts is 390mms on the S1s. (This is not an industry standard and differs for almost every seat that I have looked at. Some seats are also wider in the front or rear.)
I will be receiving a set of Mugen rails later in the week and I can confirm these measurements for you.

No Rice,
Thanks for the clarity. The Mugen rails are 2 piece from the pictures and seem to bolt up to both sides of the seats independently so, I don't believe the width measurements matter so much. I guess I should be more concerned with the fore aft measurements of 290 on the sides. If those fit the industry standard, then I am sure that the Mugen S1 rails will fit the Spoon Carbon Seats. Thanks for your help and for getting me the measurements when you get your brackets in.
Mike,
I already have a set of the Old Spoon seats. I got a special set that is a wide version as well. From what I understand they had a special version that was a little wider than the standard ones. Pretty rare find indeed. I'll show them to you next weekend. I got them with Spoon EK brackets. That is why I am looking for the Mugen sliders cause I like them better than the ones that come with Vision/Spoon seats.
-Michael.

Cosworth on this board has Momo 1000 Lakes seats with Mugen brackets and is using spacers to make them fit.

Check out this link from King...
It looks like 2 pieces that bolt up to both sides of the seat without a cross section...

when did you get those seats? Yeah I would like to check them out next week. Also let me know about the wiring thing.
FYI:
Bride racing seats (mounting holes) measure 285mm fore-to-aft, and 395mm side-to-side.
Recaro racing seats also share the same dimension as Bride.

Sparco and Momo seats have different side-to-side dimensions for almost every seat. Evos are 390/400 f/r, whereas Evo2s are 440mm f/r, for example.
If all Bride and Recaro racing seats are them same mounting dimensionwise, I would guess that the Mugen rails would work because 5mm or so is not significant.
Interesting. Do ALL Recaro racing seats have the same mounting dimensions? I would be a little suprised at this because some seats are designed for large/tall people and others for smaller people.
Will know this by the end of the week.
I know that Type-R seats are a bolt-on for 1999 Sis, so should not the Sparco brackets be the same for both the Civic and the Integra?
