Teg won't start after theft...
I did post this in tech but I thought it might be more appropriate here.
I'll keep this short and sweet. My insurance is going through my car after it was found in a dark alley. New ignition switch is basically all that was needed. The mechanic told me that it will start but won't stay on. I had no kill switches so that's not the issue.
I did have a D.E.I. Clifford alarm (came with the car) that was ripped out. Would this cause the car to not start now. I don't know if it was an imobilizer but I figured since it was ripped out it's not hooked up. The guy who called me said.. well it's prob the distributor then. Which I think is highly unlikely since previous to the theft there was never a problem with engine at all.
Any ideas?

1999 Acura Integra LS. The brain of the alarm was cut out so I didn't think that was causing a problem but I'm not the greatest with wiring. I am not sure if that would cause the car to still not start. Mechanically everything else is fine. They ripped out the alarm and broke the ignition switch to start it.
Since your car doesn't have a factory immobilizer, I would start troubleshooting by tracing the alarm wiring back to the ignition harness and remove each wire at the point it was tapped into the vehicle's harness. You may need to reconnect wires that were cut to install starter/ignition kill.
So I understand, your saying the car will start but will not keep running, is that correct?
Or do you mean the motor will turn over when you try starting it but will not start?
If it actually starts, does it stop running when you release the key from the starting position and it springs back to the run position?
Also, do you have a multimeter or at least a test light, or can you borrow one?
I agree with B18C_EJ8 you should start by finding the alarm wires and fallowing them to where they are connected to the cars wiring and removing them, and putting the cars wiring back to as stock as possible, some wires on ign. switch harness may have been cut, [like the starter or ign. wires mentioned].
Starter lead is black/white.
Ignition lead is black/yellow.
Have you had a close look under the dash on the drivers side?
You say you need a new ign. switch, why is that, was if busted up?
I believe on a 99 the ign. switch and harness are removable from the lock cylinder and column lock assembly unit, if all of it has to be replaced, don't wast time doing any repairs the ign. switch harness.
