Default Anyone running on 215/40R18 or 215/45R17 ? What offset? Any rubbing?

I've looked through the aftermarket wheels thread but I need more detail. I'm planning to buy 18"x8 wheels with 215/40R18 tires. What I don't know is what the best offset would be. This wheel is available with +35, +45 and +48 offsets. What is the best option here? Also, what is the stock offset for an '02 EX Coupe?

Also, with 215 tires and the correct offset, are there any rubbing issues? I've seen some that say up to 225 is fine, but others say they had to roll/shave their fenders to avoid rubbing with 225. That's why I've chosen 215, just to be safe.

Thanks in advance.

I used to have 215/45/17's on mine, and my sister is running them now on her EM2. They fit fine with a 2" drop and +42 rims.

You won't be able to run 215's on 17 or 18's, with a +35 offset, without your fenders being rolled. You'll also have clearance issues with a +48, except it'll be on the inner fenderwell. +45's will also need a fender roll, but you'll probably have the best clearance for 215's with them.

This is with a 2" drop right? I'm planning on getting the H&R Sport springs for a 1.5" drop. Would riding 0.5" higher be enough to squeeze in those 215's ? ...or do I have to settle for 205

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, my sister runs a Tenzo-R spring drop on stock dampers (previous owner's modification), and she fits 215/45/17's fine with a +42 offset. The tires have about a 1.5 finger gap to the fender/quarter panel.

Me again
I've been talked into looking at the Progress Sport Springs for a 1.8" drop instead of the H&R. I've talked to a local tire guy and they said 215/40R18 will be fine even with the drop and I shouldn't have any problems with rubbing but the wheel they recommend is 18x7" with a +42 offset.

I think I'm close to pulling the trigger on this but I wanted to get some expert testimony. What do you guys think?

It'd fit, but 18's look so out of place on a Civic. You're not driving an SUV.

How else am I going to show off those rear drums?
I figured I should go big or go home. I've seen other EM2's with the same style of 18" rims (black w/ polished lip) and I like it.

Not the greatest idea, if you ask me. Going big on rims, is like eliminating the purpose of owning a Civic (18" rims are heavy, and cause a significant loss in fuel mileage).
