I had been throwing a code for the TDC sensor for about a week and it would turn off and not start for like 2 minutes a couple of times.A couple of days ago i was driving and it just turned off,backfired and then then stopped.It didnt sputter or anything.Pulled over and tried to start it every now and then for about 30 min.All it wants to do is sputter and backfire when i try to start it.Its getting fuel and spark.Any ideas?

The ecu was reset and no codes are showing

 

have you checked the distributor yet?

Mine just quit on me last week as well, checked the distributor and apparently the bearing was on it's way out, ended up melting the rotor off the shaft.

 

Well a friend is going to let me use his to see if mine is bad.

 

replace that dizzy! I've seen that problem alot before

 

Well pulled the cap off and the screw that goes through rotor to hold it on the shaft wasnt even in it,it was stuck to a magnetic part.So i put it where it was supposed to go and back together now,so im gonna put it back on and see what happens

 

Got it back together and it starts but wont rev very high and has a code for CPS.

 

time for a new dizzy
