What clutch to use with 500hp???
With 500hp What clutch do you guys use? I really dont want to spend another 1,000 on a twin disc so im trying to find a 4 puck or another kind of clutch thats going to withstand launching on slicks and hold 500-550whp.
spend the money on a twin disc now - will be worth it in the long run when you destroy (3) 4 puck clutches and have to pay for replacements, just my $.02

Quite a while. How many people with 500hp cars really make a ton of track passes on them? Most people hit the track a few times and the rest of the time is street driving. Besides, 500hp really isn't all that much for a single disk. We didn't go to twin disk stuff on the hot rod cars until 650hp and 26" tires. Now days people think you need a twin disk for less than 500hp. I've seen more twin disks get worn out from street driving than i have 500hp cars tearing up single disk clutches on the track. I wouldn't bother with a twin until over 600hp.
My Comp clutch stg. 5 single w/standard pressure plate held 480whp daily driving and a ton of passes at the track for about 9 months. Another guy on here (Carbonblackeh) has the stg.5 w/HD pressure plate and has held fine for over a year with 520whp.
I guess the other question, would be what motor? Everyone knows an LS/Vtec is going to make more toque then a B16. Its prob not a huge difference, but I know where Tonys comming from. Sometimes people build street cars that make around 300 on the street, and once in awhile take it to the track, turn the boost up, and make 2-3 passes at the 500hp level.
i have act for good 4 years and tons of track and street driving no problem not until i turn the boost up to 20lbs and made 490hp and run a 11.4q/m run prety satisfied. looking forward 2007 season and make some more power
whats a more street worthy clutch, comp stage 5 or twin disc?
so i guess what im asking, take a scenario like tony was talking about above...street car couple days a week, track car every other weekend....500-550whp.....wich clutch???
