Default problem starting my hatch...

hey guys, i have a problem that hopefully i can fix asap so i can go out tonight!

i got a new valve cover today, because mine was all messed up from a paint attempt. it was i thought a d16a6 valve cover, but it is apparently different. heres the problem, and one thing i think may be wrong. on the top right hand corner there are grounding wires, the one that attaches to the frame goes on the front side (facing the front of the car) while the other one that offshoots it goes to the top, on one of the valvecover seals.

when i got my new valve cover i took both of them, and screwed them on the side, because there was no hole in the front of the valvecover (again, diff valvecovers)

my problem is, i changed my oil afterward etc, and now i go to start my car. it turns over, cranks, but does NOT start. i see the check engine light flicker in the backround, like it thinks there is a problem. i made sure all my dizzy wires went to the proper spots, and i have no idea! shoot me some so i can go out on new years!

thanks in advance guys!

Sounds like a ground problem check all your grounds again

ok. i need some insight for the ground wire for my car.

the engine is a d16a6. there is a hole in the front right upper side for a bolt to ground the motor to the frame. then, there is another offshoot on the ground wire that attaches to the grommet that seals the valve cover. now, i purchased a d15b valve cover because mine was all messed up. there is not hole in the front right upper side for a bolt to ground the motor, so i decided to just run the ground to the top grommet. the car does not start like this, however with the old valve cover and wire it starts. with the new valve cover it does not... any insight to get my car running with the d15b valve cover (because it is much cleaner than the a6 one that i had).

its pretty simple, just extend the old wire so it reaches the other side so you can ground it like the old valve cover...

on the d16a6 cover, there were two wires, one connected to the front of the valve cover, and the other one connected to the grommet on the top of the valve cover. only one wire connected to the frame, i'm gonna try to have pics tomorrow.

the d15b cover im trying to use does not have the spot for the screw to ground on the front of the valve cover, and i'm basically trying to use 1 wire to ground the engine, not sure if its possible...?

on your thermostat housing it has a ground for the main relay and other sensors in your main engine harness. If the grounds from the engine to the chassis are disconnected or corroded then you will have no grounding ability for those sensors also attaching ground wires to the head cover gromments can be a bad ground as well depending on the material covering the grommet.

gratis... i'm oging to check that tomorrow

here's one more thing, i swapped my old valve cover back on, hooked up my old ground wires, and it started... so, it's more or less how can i set a secure ground to my new valve cover (which is off a d15b; my engine is a d16a6). is there a certain guage wire? idk?
