Default Weight reduction with new full exhaust?

I could only find one post of OEM vs. after market weights of integra exhaust systems.

My question is has anyone actually weight the full OEM exhaust system with manifold? Or even a full after market setup?

I realize that you could only potentially shave off about 20lbs or so for the whole new header to tip replacement.

I was just curious to see if the aftermarket companies really care that much about a few pounds, or if consumers even really consider searching for the lightest weight exhaust system.

I'd care more about the #'s the header put down than how heavy it is.

That stock header probably weighs around 20-30lbs (probably more) by itself, it's cast iron, and the stock muffler weighs more than my entire buddy club prospec system.

So how much weight have you guys saved with your new set ups? I can't find any weight info for any of the the buddy club series or any other systems.

I don't know. I just put the thing on. I would say buddy club is probably one of the lightest exhausts out there, just because of the thickness of the steel. I would think that most aftermarket headers would be the same weight except the 2 pieces, those are slightly heavier than 1 piece headers. How light does your car need to be? You can always strip out the entire interior and sound deadening and that would save you way more than a pound variance in aftermarket exhaust.

Yeah your right, your power gains with the new exhaust diameter ect... is what you are really looking for.

I just thought that since companies try and compete to build the lightest exhaust systems that they would try and get the word out, or at least weight specs to gain more sales.

My cast iron exhaust manifold & downpipe weighed 32# (my stainless steel Edelbrock header weighs 15#). I don't know the weight of the original exhaust cat-back but my 2.25" Comptech weighs 40#.
Does anyone know the weight of the OEM cat-back exhaust?
