Brakepads on track
You guys that run your R's on the tracks often, what type of brakepads are you using ?
Over here in Sweden we run on Ferrodo DS2500 and Carbotech XP8 and some use the Performance Friction brakes.
I'm talking about you guts with stock Type R calibers.

The VR's aren't ideal for daily but you can do it. I have for the last 3 or 4 years (not daily but always on the street) You just have to be aware of the braking distance when cold or for panic stops. Once they warm up though they are awesome, especially on such a light car like the R. As a matter of fact when my stock EVO pads run out I will be upgrading to Cobalt compounds.
The cool thing about the VR's or at least the last VR compound was that you could daily drive with GT sports all around and then swap in the VR's on to the front at the track since the compounds were compatible. Plus the VR's didn't dust any more than other R compounds I tried and were alot kinder on rotors, wheels and just about everything else they came in contact with, unlike say Hawk Blues which are nasty to say the least and caustic and horrible when they get wet

I know SN - "George Knighton" on this forum has experience with the Spec B's in the rear, maybe PM him.
And or try the Road Racinging Autocross forum for more on these pads as well as AXXIS since I don't have any experience with them but know there is alot of knowledge there for both Cobalt and others.

I think they're an ideal street-track pad - aggressive enough to stand up to the heat generated in track use and still give excellent braking, yet quiet on the street so that people won't give you dirty looks (and they don't have to warm up to be effective in everyday driving).
Okay, you can call me lazy because I prefer not to have to change pads all the time, and I'm willing to give up that last little bit of extra braking power. If you feel the same way, I think you'll find that the GT Sport is a great choice.

If you're willing to swap pads before and after every track event (or have a track-only car), by all means use track pads like the Cobalt Spec VR; they'll give you even more braking power. I'm using R compound track tires, the Toyo RA-1. (The R888 is not available in the United States.)

My ITR has used Carbotech XP9, XP12, Spec VR and Porterfield R4 compounds in front. For an N/A car, they're all great. My turbo pig car tends to eat brakes for breakfast, and the Spec VR's probably held up the best under race conditions. XP12's a close 2nd. Porterfield I haven't used in a while since their brake dust was so obnoxious.
I've daily driven the Spec VR's, Porterfield R4's. They're both sorta OK, I enjoyed driving with them but wear and dust are an issue. I didn't have any issue with cold bite with either.
Rear, I've used XP8, XP10, Raybestos dust-free street pads, and OEM. XP8's worked well for me and lasted a long time. I like a little higher bias in the rear in the ITR, it works for me for straight line braking stability and trailbraking.
I also use Ferodo pads in the Prelude, they're awesome too.
I've been using Toyo RA1's for a while now (not by choice) and Hankook Z214, Kumho Victoracers before that.
My ITR will be N/A next year, and I'll likely try out the new Cobalt Friction pads, but if I have any problems with them I'll go back to Carbotech which I'm getting some familiarity with (despite the fact that they let go of one of their best guys there, Matt Nicholson)

I tried using the R4 on the street. Cold bite was an issue; even in the warmer times of the year, those first few stops were surprising if you weren't prepared for the lack of bite. (Squeal was an issue, too, although not quite as bad with the R4 as with the Carbotech Panther Plus or the Endless CCX.)

Hmm! I haven't had cold-bite issues with pads, almost ever. I've had pads that after cooking them, didn't want to stick well. I thought the R4 had a high coefficient of friction throughout the temp range. Maybe I have bad memory, or my right foot is miscalibrated.
I double the R4 squeal comment.
Seems like a lot of racing compound brakes will make funny noises if you drive them on the street much.
