need help with ep3 seats

Default need help with ep3 seats

i just picked a set up and i want to paint the inner part of the headrest that is red when its stock. i want to paint in black but i obviously dont want to get paint on the cloth and if there is a simple way to remove the fabric around it then that would make things much easier.... thanks in advance

that was the plan but if you see the seat im not sure how im going to hold the padding down and away from the plastic to spray it and then give it enough time to dry

Take the entire headrest out of it's post holes, and tape up anything you don't want covered. Then use some Black Vinyl dye to paint the red portions. Vinyl dye isn't like spray paint, in that it actually causes a chemical reaction with the surface, causing it to slightly melt and, in turn, bind with the coloring. It's much more durable than regular spray paint.

Also, for painting the headrests, you may want to put them in a vise or something, to make it easier to spray. Then, after they're done curing (can take up to 36 hours), remove the tape and you'll have your black centerpieces.

only problem is the headrest can not be removed from the seat .... its one piece...

You can still do it, regardless of whether they're attached or not. It's just that you won't mount the headrest in a vise.
