Very Strange, Blue flame in exhaust.
I know this can happen, but I have a 96 Civic with an LS swapped out of a 98.
Its full OBD 2, no CEL. Stock ecu. Evrythin else stock. CAI and stock civic exhaust (kinda small)
Everything seems to run fine, My buddy was driving behind me tonight and said when I hammerd down, it fired a small blue flame out the exhaust. I know after burn is common, but this seems silly on a stock setup. Buddy also claims it smells rich as i drive more so to hammer down. What gives. Is this normal for this setup.
BTW check timing with light, set to 16deg BTDC and running premium.
Thanks
Steve

You running a cat converter? Not really a need to run premium with a stock motor at stock timing with stock ecu/basemaps. I really don't kow where to start in this situation. How about your O2? How new is that?

Running preminum since swap as motor sat a while and i like a cleanout for it.

I think you should read about gasoline and what higher octane does for you. You have a stock low compression LS, there is no reason on this planet why you should run premium gasoline. Higher octane doesn't clean your motor any differently than lower octane gasoline does.

Honda's run rich, so without a cat, I would say its possible under full throttle to flame out the tailpipe.
higher octane = slower burn = less chance for detonation
The higher the performance of an enginer, you need to run higher octane to prevent detonation, but a stock LS motor should run just fine on regular unleaded. That's what I ran in my integra LS when I had it.

why aren't you running a cat? thats kinda pointless with a stock setup. Running 93 every once in a while can clean out you injectors and combustion chambers a little. I was talking with a top vette mechanic who told me to atleast run a tank of prem every once and awhile.

Not entirely true. Some fuel manufacturers add detergents to their premium fuel. So, you get the picture.

All fuels have detergents, various volatiles, etc. I have never heard of a premium fuel having more detergents than a fuel with lesser octane. The EPA doesn't want cars running higher octanes than needed so they can clean their injectors. I wanna see some proof of this that you claim.
If you wanna clean your injectors and what not, run an aftermarket cleaner with the money you save buying lower octane, more appropriate fuel.
