Default some help with my b16 swap

first off, i been a lurker for about a year now, i finally decided to sign up.

2nd, you guys own. i learned so much about hondas from this website, i am forever in your debt.

ok now with the questions.

im nearing completion of my first motor swap, its a b16a (jdm) into a 94 civic hatch VX.
im still missing the throttle cable, but she fired right up and sounded nice and strong. however i got a check engine light, and im not sure if i did something wrong, or if the car is confused because of the new engine.( jdm p30 ecu)

also, we had the car up on jack stands idleing, and when i come off the clutch in neutral the wheels turn, is this normal?

and lastly, my shifter is very very stiff (energy bushings, short shifter, hasport swap linkages) i mean stiff as in my arm went numb going through the gears a few times. is this from the new, stiff bushings? or did i do something wrong. i also changed the clutch and pressure plate, and i filled the tranny with new Honda fluid. im not sure if thay may be it also?

lastly, i read a few threads about getting the cel code from the ecu, but i really didn't understand them, would anybody be willing to give me a real dumbed up explanation of how to do this?
'

thanks in advance for the help, and im sorry for the newbie sounding questions.

hey man i know what your talking about gettin the code from the ecu. there is a lil blue plug i believe (mayb green?) cant member but ull figure it out its right above the ecu, maybe tucked under the dash or somethin and have a lil rubber box attached to it (also you will understand when you see it) there should be a brown wire and black wire connected to it. all you have to do is take a piece of wire, paper clip. staple? lol etc. and hook one end to each side. then just turn the ign to on and watch the cel flash and match the numbers up to the code. hope this helps ya some

ahh that makes a bit more sense, I'll have to look for that tomorrow. that will still work even though its not the stock ecu? i thought that only worked for stock ecu's.

thanks for the fast reply.

There is a nice well wrote out FAQ at the top of the page that can answer many of your questions from checking the CEL and info on basic motor swaps. Best bet is to check there first.

i remember the first time i ever changed the shifter in my honda i tightened the bolt that goes through the shifter base and the linkage end too tight and it resulted in the shifter being EXTREMELY hard to move....loosen the bolt a little bit and youll be good
