15x7.5 tire size question
i just got a set of drag's dr20. i was wondering wat tire size would be good for it. i have a set of 195/55/15's but wasnt sure if its good for these wheels or would the 195's work? i was thinking for selling them and getting 205's. thanks in advance
with the 195's, would the lip of the rim stick out much. if its not that bad, i wouldnt mind slapping the 195's on. dont wanna go through the hassle selling the tires and getting new ones. performance wise im not to worried about. just dont want the lip to stick out badly.

Good question. Remember, you need to get the proper tire size for the CAR, not just for the wheel.
If your car is a CRX, del sol, or pre-'96 Civic, then the proper 15" tire size is 195/50-15. If your car is an Integra or '97-00 Civic, then it's 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. In either case, assuming you're talking about tires for street use, and not just for the track or autocross or dragstrip, 15x7.5 is TOO WIDE for your car.
If you have an Accord or Prelude, then 15x7.5 might work.
So what kind of car is this for? Model, version, body style, engine...

And 195/50-15 is only approved for rims 5.5-7.0 inches wide.

About 3.5 percent. Which may not sound all that much, but it means that the tires are MUCH bigger than stock.
That's why 195/50-15 is better for your car - no error at all.

i think the 195/50's on the 7.5 would have been good
i know its not the "proper" size but you would be fine..
i have friends that run 195's on 8" wide wheels with no problems

Let me guess........they drive VWs?
If a manufacturer of a tire says that the tire they just made should only be put on a certain width of rim it's usually best to follow their recommendation, they made it for a reason.

Ya, but there is also a difference between doing it on a closed track under controlled conditions and doing it on the highway. On the track if something goes wrong you have a helmet, roll cage, room around you, and professional rescue teams already there. On the highway, well, just trouble awaits.

yup, not even one of these cars on here are lowered or has different engines or anything that the manufacture does not explicitly say is OK to do. this is not sarcasm.

The range of approved rim widths is for safety. It's also for what size rims won't be impossible for mounting the tires onto.
But hey, do whatever you want. If you think your tire guy can mount them. And if you know what you'll then do if he can't.
they can be mounted pretty easily with a cheetah blaster and a euro machine...a pain in the *** sometimes...not my look but hey what ever makes you happy is all that matters
