b20 with b15 head.. i just blew the head i beliew please help.
b16*
hows it going guys. so i did a b20 vtec a few weaks ago and sound like it ran strong. so bunch of my friends and I did a ortega run and on the way back i heard a clacking somewhere in the engine and i cant figure out were its coming from
on the side of the road we took my valve cover off to see if we could see anything but nothing un normal. so we started it back up and i got it home. it doesnt rev right its idling to 2 then drops to .5 then back up and down. the weird thing is i can feel massive vibrations from my clutch. but thats probably cause im trying to change gears when its revving al funny. also another thing is when i let of the gas when driving it feels like you hit a brick wall and it dies really fast. so i dono if its the clutch or the head.
my tranny was perfectly fine before and also i just put a brand new clutch in.
any suggestions or ideas to what it could be?
thanks

is the car smoking at all?
sounds like you could have cashed out the bottom end, b20 sleeves and rod bolts are not meant to be past 7k for extended periods of time

if u let off the gas and it sounds like the car wants to hurl/spill its guts out id say spun bearings...
did you just slap the head on the block? or did you do a rebuild first? how high were you revving?
slapped it on without rebuild. password jdm said that there b20 long blocks are compression tested and ****. so i trusted that. my b16 head came off my old ls vtec which smoked like a mother.
car doesnt smoke at all really.

oh ya i took off the head and nothing looks to fucked up i dono if it is the head. if its the bottom end that sucks ***. im so tired of taking **** out of my car and fixing it
any specific way to see if its a rod bearing without taking the whole bottom end appart..

dude you should have invested a little more time and money into your b20/vtec. so sad...but it happens. id put 50 bucks on a spun bearing. did you get rev happy? did you upgrade your water pump or oil pump? a good build will cost you 2000 at least. but some for less. by the way the only way to see if you have a spun bearing would be to go thru the oil pan. look for discolored rods. good sign of a spun bearing. should be easy to fix but you'll need a new crank unless you want it to happen again. get the new one micropolised and have installed professionally if you dont feel comfortable doin it.

how high were you revving? if you were going over the b20's stock rev limit for extended periods of time without doing anything to the bottom end, you just screwed yourself.
