Facing the aftermath of a fire...
Yesterday, my friend was just waking up from his nap, getting ready to head over to his grandmother's house to pick up her computer so I can reformat it. Twenty minutes after he had waken up, he said he sensed an odor of burning wood and paint seeping through the walls. He grabbed his two dogs and ran out of the apartment. After retreating safely outside, he turned around and looked up. At that point, he witnessed the beginning of the end of that apartment. All the residents from the four conjoined units escaped unscathed. The fire is under investigation at the present time, but it is believed that it was electrical-related in the unit next door (back wall). After seeing him on the news again, I went over there today to help him retrieve things that were still salvagable. The following pictures shows the destruction fire can cause within a matter of minutes.

This was the bed he was sleeping in 20 minutes before (mattress and boxspring removed).

He was talking to his neighbor from his apartment unit.

We had to get most of the stuff out before the 2nd story floor collapsed. It had soaked up a lot of water.

The next unit over

He is taking it very well. He has high hopes for the future to come.

See it all too much. It's hard to watch the people watch as their stuff is burned.
I could have been much worse, he could have died. So look at the brightside.
