Holy Hell do the Azenis suck...
...in standing water (Just for you Grandpa
).
Drove to my moms for Mom's day and came home yesterday... Wicked *** thunderstorms today, roads were hella wet, not just "sprinklin" rain, we're talking straightup downpours. (Blue Route / Northeast Ext. for this in Philly area...)
Traction = 1%. Enough to keep me going straight at 50MPH on the ride home. God how unpleasant a drive that was... (coupled with the overturned camper/tow vehicle).
Just wondering if I'm the only one whos had that experience...

I drove with them in the rain, no thunderstorms, but it was raining pretty hard about 2 weeks ago, I had not problems. I have to say though I was not going over the speed limit and I did not go on the freeway, but by looking at the tires they don't seem good for rain.
If it has rained recently, and the roads are still wet, or if it is raining, but not pouring, the traction fron the Azenis is better than what I was getting from the RE730s. Standing water is a different story.
Yah.. we'll there were definately little streams of water everywhere. Semi-wet roads aren't a biggie deal.. but changing lanes you felt like you were hitting speed bumps (of water).. if that tells you how hard it was raining. Where are my damn philly people..
Someone else has to know how much of a bizitch the rain was today.. :\

they may not be the best in the rain, but you rather pay well over $100 a tire for high performance all season radials? I paid $130 a tire for my Goodyear's, but they kick *** in the rain and give me good launch traction and handling. Living in so cal, I dont get much rain, but when it does I just LOVE driving in it!

Happened to me in the rain too....
Almost Lost the R..
Just Drive Slow and pay extra caution when it's raining...
(or get another set of tires just for Rainy day)

damn, thats shitty... i was thinking about Azenis for my next set of tires cuz they're cheap and high performance, but looks like I'll stick with the more expensive ones with better wet traction.
yea, they are pretty bad tires in wet conditions. i would only buy them for the track. get a spare set of rims to put those on.

If you are going to buy tires just for the track, then you ought to buy real R Compound tires (Yokohama A032R, Kumho V700 Victoracer, Hoosier R3S03, etc), not the Falken Azenis street tires.

are the azenis directional like the OEM bridgestones? just a thought, but maybe the tires were mounted in the wrong direction?
if not, then i'm not sure what the problem would be...sounds scary!

Plus its only an issue when you get really low on tread.
I found out this past weekend when they started to hydroplane.
