Default Bogging VTEC...

Posting this for a friend...

He just got a 99 Si and the stock B16A2 except for a no name intake...it runs ok before it goes into VTEC but right before it goes into VTEC there is a loud hissing noise and you can really hear VTEC but the car goes no where...I had this problem in my Sol and I just ripped on it and it snapped out of it but I dont know whats going on with his car...We changed the Oil, Oil filter, spark plugs and I took off the VTEC Solenoid and didnt see any clogs and we replaced that gasket as well...any help would be great...oh almost forgot there is no CEL...

I'm gonna pre assume that his oil level is fine hence he just done an oil change.

Have you checked timing, dist cap, rotor button, run some fuel injector cleaner, etc.

Get the clip up when you can, but the timing needs to be stock and if you've advanced the timing depending on how much you'll need to run higher octane gas.

Having the same problem as well with my b16a2 vtec is working but the car not going any where but this just started happening recently. About 2 weeks the car moved in vtec like my h22 accord bone stock in my hatch. Anyone that claims that a bone stock b16 has weak vtec has never driven a b16 that actually running good. Vtec moves hard in this motor when it working right. I believe my probelm is becuase I put to much oil in my car.

I'm preassuming your referring to me, Because i know i wouldn't be driving a b16 that's running right.. Because I'm driving a 12:5:1 built b18c1 & yes a stock b16 running right is still ******* weaksauce.

If you believe your problem is your oil being overfilled.. Pull the dipstick and check your oil level and drain some dumbass.

To the original thread poster, hit me up when you get the video!

Shut up.

That hissing sound is oil pressure. Either your car's not warmed up, or something wrong with your oil pressure. I had that problem.

4 qts of oil(5w-30)
Timing at 16
91+ octane
^^^Is all this correct?

What's the CEL for?
