Default Whats YOUR contribution to Honda-tech

Lately in the last couple months or so I have noticed an unfortunate decline from helpful posts/replies like Tippyman's and Mr. Speakers that help people out and try to solve their dilemas like I try to do as best as I can, but rather just an increase of a big flame fest.
-Now it seems like there are people just randomly signing up on H-T JUST to flame people and break down someones post to make them feel stupid and angry.
75% of these people can be found "flaming" posts in the Kills section of the forum which makes sense as they dont have any honda-acura knowledge to make someone look stupid in any technical threads (ef/crx, 92-00 , etc).

After owing my first success on my MPFI swap over a year ago to the super helpful and prompt replies from users on Honda-tech, I ordered 2 H-T stickers that I will never take off my civic because thats how it all began- from honda-tech.
Therefore Im pretty sure im not alone in how I feel when retards come onto this forum with no useful advice but to ruin someones day.
As for me I wrote a decent MPFI swap article that is edited and on H-T and I try to legitamitely help out the best i can.

So what have YOU contributed to Honda-tech??

i flame people.

but im good at it.

really though, if i am 100% sure of my answer, i'll help out.

if i know the part numbers of something that someone is looking for, i'll help out. (i used to work for honda)

if i have parts that people might need for their build, i'll help out.

i've done installs for people that i met on H-T. and i've done a few write-ups here and there. nothing major... i mostly come to pass the time, learn about engine building, sell parts, buy more parts, flame people, chit chat, etc...

basically the same things you would do at a meet.

I learn, and help spread the knowledge. Have ordered thousands in parts from HT sponsors, and have done business with many private members as well. We are lucky to have the biggest online car forum EvAR

I try to contribute by adding the odd amusing comment (muffler bearings, blinker fluid) and when I have an idea or thought regarding someone's problem suggesting what might help. I'm not extremely mechanically knowledgable, but I was helping my mechanic put in a new tranny last night.

I try to be helpful, I've bought one part, about to buy a set of rims and some Konis from H-T / Sponsors, and generally appreciate the good advice (when its there).

1. I usually help out where I can with transmission tech questions.

2. Cuss people out when they give me the "budget" line and how come parts are soo expensive and my buddy has this tranny guy that will do the work for $100. Or can you just fix one part and leave the rest alone "as is"...oh and can I get a warranty too even though you didn't go through the whole trans. Stupid stuff like that. Then the first guy above comes back after the $100 guy screwed him over and wants me to fix his mess....Then brings back the "budget" line after his trans is a total disaster and I am at the point of not even touching it. So then I go to number 3.

3. Flame uncontrollably when necessary.

Flame, flame, and flame some more. Except for one simple thing. Posts in Kills don't count toward your total. I'm Satan in Kills. I've made peace with it.

Otherwise, I hang out in the other forum, where I spread my experience and what I've learned. I also learn form Honda-Tech. At least 1000 of my posts are in All Motor, learning and handing out knowledge.

As sorry as I am to say it, 92-00 has disintegrated form a tech forum to, for the most part, morons. There are some very knowledgeable folks in there, but their help is usually dismissed and turns into an e-arguement that was unnecessary.

Who pissed you off in Kills enough for you to go cry to an entire forum?

I like to post in this forum but the questions are usually so . What kind of exhaust do you have? What color should I paint my car? Then everything else people ask has been covered at least 10 times. I don't think most people know how use the search button. What to actually type in?

I usually only post in the all-motor forum and I stay in that forum also for the most part. I'm an all motor guy and majority of the people in that forum seem be very knowledgeable even though most people don't get a lot of replies to their questions. By the way I never built a motor yet and I stay in the all motor forum.

I recently joined this forum to learn about Hondas. I'll contribute to the stereo forum since I know what I'm talking about. With Honda's, I'm here to learn so there won't be many posts from me until I become more knowledable. When I do work on something, I'll usually take pictures and type up a DIY. I simply haven't done anything yet. Give it time.

I hate on the haters and try to encourage people to not let people on this site sway there decisions but instead to make their own choices. Like if homeboy loves euro taillights who cares. If they make him happy then it's all good. After all honda ownership is all about happiness, is it not. We all have honda's to make us happy and we have to embrace that. Also I try to help out when I'm sure of the answer, but I will admit that I usually won't reply to a question if there's some haters on it already. Whatever, this website keeps me sane at work.

The kills forum is a haven for the most frustrated, angry, and generally rude members of honda-tech. Who wants to be welcoming and congenial when you can flame the undeserving and get cheered on by everyone else in the forum?

Cue the kills lackeys flaming me in 3..2..1..

I help when I can with anything I know. However, when the I get on the CRX/EF Main page and see 3 posts from the same person for the same things gets under my skin. Also when people ask the same question instead of search that will irritate the crap out of me.

I will only answer on things I have first hand knowledge of. I also like a good discussion like I have had with Tyson on several occasions. When people can debate and keep a level head it makes things good.

I agree there is a steady decline the past few months here on HT.

Oh and SmokinSax.....I donated money on that deal cause well....that is a great story that should be written into the ages. THE BOOT

I usually only reply to threads where my contribution is helpful and not a repeat of what someone else has said.

I hardly post here anymore though, because:

1) There's a lot of people on here now that at least know what I know (if not better)
2) I'm not racing my Hondas any more...but rather hypermiling them (see http://www.gassavers.org for more info)
3) There isn't a forum on H-T to discuss classic Honda restoration.

I've been on this forum for awhile (different screen name) and i read but dont post mostly for the fact that a lot of the good advice i see given gets flamed by some one who thinks they are the be all end all to Honda's. From basic problems to general debates, I've seen flame wars, name calling, people get banned, fights at car shows over stuff said here and i just dont think its worth it. I enjoy this forum but not the drama that comes with it. Thats my .02

But what may seem dumb to one person may be education to the next. We have all asked a dumb question at one point or another. But I'm sure someone gave you the answer you needed
