Default tune up items... something unusual about part numbers.....

well I'll dig up the p/n's in a little while, but here's something funny:

the plug wires you can buy from the dealer, or usually a bit cheaper from nopi.com for ngk plug wires.

now the distributor cap and rotor button are unique p/n's exclusive to acura. if you go to a honda dealer with the p/n's, they won't show up, so you're stuck going to acura.

AND the p/n's for the cap and rotor button on a 2000 civic Si are totally different... even though we all know that the itr head is just a cleaned up b16 head... so what are the differences between the b16 parts and the itr parts? cost?

yeah, i would like to know this too as i need to pick up a new cap and rotor and there isn't an acura dealer near me, only a honda dealer. then, when i order an "acura-exclusive" part, i have to pay a shipping charge

Just for reference, the ITR and Civic Si distributors:

http://www.barancoacuraparts.c...dIrno=

http://www.hondaautomotivepart...81%29

Look at the price for the Civic entire assembly!!

Not much difference in the prices for the cap, rotor & screw.. well the Honda screw is a bit cheaper.

I've cross referenced stuff here in Hawaii between Honda and Acura dealerships and found that for the same part, they are charging 20 to 30% than the Honda dealership.

I bought a rotor button for an Si before. It worked fine and was the same but the screw was different. The screw was about 3 threads longer than the Acura screw. Strange.

if anyone wants Honda part numbers for the Integra. ask.

i've got a copy of the Honda EPC. obviously it will be for a RHD car so some stuff will be different, but at least it means you'll be able to get stuff thats shared from a Honda dealer

You know what's funny... When I did my maintenence a few weeks ago, I compared prices at Acura, to the knock off Advanced Auto Parts components... Wow, Acura took the cake big time, I was very surprised. Just a side note.

I'm sure the B16 parts would work... Hell, my buddy's running an B18B1 distributor cap on his JDM H22, it's working great, haha.

I think I luck out.... My honda dealership has a sister Acura dealership about 60 miles away. I give them any honda or Acura part and they get it for me.

The 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si shares the same Distributor Cap and Rotor button as the 1994-2001 Acura Integra (NON-VTEC).

I thought that but was waiting for you to chime in. Last time I tried a b16 cap on a b18c it didnt work.

Each dealership is independently owned and operated. What they choose to sell their parts at is solely up to them. Not all dealerships are like this.

When you submit a parts order to American Honda, regardless if you're a Honda or Acura dealership, if it's the same part number we're all charged the same price. We even pick it up at the same warehouse.

so, if i need a new cap and rotor, i have to order that specifically from acura correct?

or is it easier to just get one from an auto store? i kinda prefer OEM, but i wanna get this thing running, so i might just have to

But the distributor cap and rotor button.... are the leads of a different material or quality/ size?

I know that len pretty much hooks us all up at quite a discount, but just wonder why there are different part numbers - unless there is some physical trait about the items that makes them unique to the itr assembly.

Kenny, there is a physical difference. You can come down here and take pictures of it if you want.
