plz explain why my clutch is destroyed
hey guys.... i took my car out today to get it e-tested. my clutch is slipping so badly that it takes me 30 seconds to reach the speed limit. i couldnt even get it tested because the car could not reach the appropriate speed for testing on the dyno. this wouldbt be a mystery if my clutch was on it way out, but a few days before it was fine. still a worn down, but very driveable. any ideas? its a d15b2 with dx tranny.
that would usualy mean that either its completly worn out and u are already hitting the ribbets. or somehow it got maladjusted. but uf u say it is drivable, then im assuming its just gone.
i understand if you torque down the bolts too tight in the wrong order you can snap the clutch plate, maybe that happened. my completly worn out stock clutch worked very well, and i thought it would be in good shape the first time i took it out, and found it was worn down past the metal rivets. So my shitty clutch that was worn down, worked well. if yours WAS in good shape, i bet its broken now.
Good luck tho!

To answer your q about why the E-test could not be done.
When we run the dyno we run it at 15 and 25mph under different loads.
At 15 mph the dyno load is 50% of the weight of the vehicle(like you were going up a pretty steep hill)
At 25 the test is run with 25% of the weight.
Obviously with a bad clutch hills are your enemy. Same with the dyno.
As for the clutch sometimes the disc wears and sometimes the flywheel or pressure plate wear. It is hard to tell you why it is destroyed without seeing it and or seeing how you drive.
I had my clutch replaced and I finally got on it a month after and slip. So I took it back and the guy had the wrong step machined in the flywheel.

i loosend the cable to the clutch all the way...if i put my foot to the floor and release the pedal 3/4 of an inch wuts left of my clutch is fully engaged. i ordered a new one, and wut little i have left will get me to the garage for installation. thanks for the help guys, i think its just time for a replacement.
