yes, use spacers in the hood brackets. It is pretty ugly though, I wouldn't suggest doing
it unless it is absolutely necessary. Not to mention you will get some unwanted attention. I have mine spaced about 1/4", looks pretty stock, not sure how much it helped with temps. You can also take the weather stripping out that goes between the gutter and the hood

Just slap a bunch of washers on there and get longer bolts. Ghetto but effective.
I'd only do it on a turbo or ITB car where the temps got a little higher than usual. Still, unlesss it calls for it... I don't know If I'd do it.
