Default confirmation of starter solenoid connections?

Not my pic, but close enough to get the point across. On the started solenoid, there is te small spade clip that is the ignition hookup. There are the two studs sticking out below that. I need to double check, the shorter one on the right is the connection from the battery, and the longer one on the left goes to the starter?

Most every starter I have ever seen aside from some GMs with 2 smaller wires have a LARGE positive cable going straight from the battery to the starter and the smaller wire is the signal from the ignition. And it all gets its ground through the block/trans it is bolted to.

Usually the large bat cable goes on the one stud and on the other stud is a shorter wire that goes from the relay part to the solenoid.

Yeah, I know what the two studs are for, I just need specifics as to which wire goes to which stud. Anyone else?

No, there aren't any markings on the wires or the solenoid. One of the rubber caps os a bit different, but not in any way that helps me figure out where it's supposed to go.

My best guess right now is that the short wire that goes to the starter goes to the left stud, since that is closer to the starter. That would mean the battery positive wire would go to the right stud.

Well, mine only had one stud, So it was kinda obvious which one it went on. Try the one, if it works, great, if not, switch.

Well, looking closer at the rubber caps over the ring terminals, one of them was deeper than the other. One of the studs is also longer than the other. Through the power of deductive reasoning, I put the one with the deeper cap (coming from the battery) on hte longer stud, on hte left. The short wire that jumps right to the starter went onto the right stud. Seems to be working, the starter turns anyway.
