ATTN: RoaringTurtle or anyone else who as PAINTED their RIMS...
hey guys i need help. i was about to paint my rims but i didnt know if i needed to primer them or just paint over the sanded metal, also my rims have a clear coat and i was wondering if there was any substance to get the clear coat completly off without eating right through the silver part of the rim. The reason why i ask this is i am going to paint my Konig Tuners gunmetal while leaving the lip the polished silver color. The spokes are going to be "graphite" while the lip is still silver. any help would be appreciated, if u wanna see pics of my 94 ferio email me at o.j.benitez@student.tcu.edu
thanks for the awesome turnaround time ! i really appreciate it! i am gonna be painting them soon, but still need to know whats up with eating off the clear coat, some of the clear coat is already coming off the lip so i thought f it and take it all off, but i still want the silver on the lip. thanks u guys, my car is coming along...
Use some aircraft grade stripper. It'll take off everything including the clearcoat down to the bare metal. You can buy some in most auto parts stores. I used it and then wetsanded my GSR's before priming and painting them along with a new clearcoat.
