Progress
Tein
H&R
JIC magic

Those are a few I know off the top of my head. They are all in your price range and all are excellent systems.

Get the Tein's or Zeal because I've heard good things about them both.

Progress
Are you talking FULLY ADJUSTABLE assemmblies?
Ride height, ride (both bump and rebound) all adjustable?
You'd be better off going with the classic GC+ KONI combo with the $$$ you save get some adj. pillow's.
Most kits out there are watered down for the street-
Only advantage of getting full assembly would be the shortened shock.

I am gettin the H&R Full Threaded coilovers shortly, and from those who have em, they say they love em. If you want alternatives: Tein HA's, Zeal B2, custom spring rate Ground Controls on Koni Yellow's, or Progress

I read a big article a while back at how coil overs are actually a pain unless your have a 4 wheel scale so you can set the loads and that a good shock/spring combo was better than coil overs. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks
Ben

Actually, I wouldnt ever go with just a coil over and seperate shock..for the exact reason you stated & you dont get the performance of a full coil over suspension. The only reason Im going with a full coil over is that I want the best package I can get for my car. A shop near me has scales, so Ill be covered there.

Go here and read about Progress group coil-overs they claim to manage 1.0 G cornering from their 89 hatch, the new Honda Tuner has the Hatch on the cover.I thought it was a pretty impressive car and the coil-over set up, is right around $1400. That's what I'm looking at going with, check it out http://www.progressauto.com

I would only go with a kit that actually uses a shorter shock like Progress or Koni. That way you can lower the car without loosing shock travel.

H&R full coilover. Shortend shock body and matched springs and it rides like heaven.
