Default sunroof leaking, need help

1989 Honda Accord Lxi.

sunroof works great, seals arent dried out or anything. When it rains, my roof (in between the outside and inside roof panel) gets water in it and then drains on the seats.

It doesnt happen, at least not a noticeable amount when I wash the car, only after it rains real good.

I took a hose and squirted the areas and it seem that the rear portion of the sun roof is not sealing all the way. There is just enough gap that water can get in if it pours hard enough.

Is there any adjustment to bring up the rear portion just a little? Or do I need new seals, or??

Any help is appreciated. I really dont want to use duct tape, lol.

Thanks.

There may be an adjustment available. Maybe someone with experience can chime in. The seal is not totally water tight. That's why there are two sunroof drain tubes up there, one left and one right . They sometimes clog with dirt and debris. Try to blow them out with an air gun first. You don't want extremely high pressure when you do this or you might blow apart the drain tube connections at the kick panels.

The most common problem with those jewels is the sunroof drains get plugged up.
You can go into the trunk and peel the trunk liner so you are heading towards the wheel well. You'll find a drain tube running down thru there; on the end of that tube is a rubber 'duckbill' fitting. Clean it out and chop off the end of the 'duckbill' about 1/4 inch.
There are also front sunroof drains that you can get to by removing the fender liner behind the front tire.
There are shims on the sunroof carrier brackets if you need to add to them, you can remove the slide rail covers to see how the sunroof is bolted on.

Well we just had our first good rain since I unclogged the drain tubes as you mentioned. Guess what? NO LEAKS!!! They were clogged pretty bad, probably never been cleaned out.

Thanks again, you guys rock!!!

Glad to hear you got the 'fix'. Those are some tough cars 86-89 and I like to see them still on the road!
