Default ive searched and im tired

question i have is my car when i start it sometimes the starter would engage but not roll over like the gear is poping out but locked up. well after turning the key on and off 50 or so times it would roll over like nothing is wrong. well today im at waffle house with my g/f and i got to start it well it did it again but this time made a different click under tha dash board after 2 trys the dash had a stream of smoke coming out the dash board. the click was under the left a/c vent next to the gauge cluster. would it be the main relay my car was also acting like it had a fuel filter cloged up but what was weird the lights would dim down but then get bright again so is it the main relay. plz any help is better than no help.

sounds like a dead battery to me... & as for the smoke, idk wat to tell u bout that... the lights get dim cuz u are using energy from ur battery & once u start it up, all the energy is working off of your alternator

i agree. Make sure your battery cables are secure as it sounds very similar to the issues i'm having with a stretched out negative terminal. Spontaneously comes loose and my car just clicks because it doesn't have enough voltage for the starter.
