CEL - New York Inspection - Auto Manual Swap
I'm planning on the auto-manual swap for my 93 Civic. I know that I'll be getting a CEL afterwards unless I switch the ECU or modify my current auto one (verify this as correct?). However, I need to pass inspection fairly soon afterwards in New York. Can someone tell me if the CEL from the swap will affect my passing the inspection? I don't know exactly how OBDII works, but I figure a CEL due to my transmission shouldn't have anything to do with emissions?
Dude, just eliminate the problem. Converting an ecu to manual is a cakewalk. No reason someone couldn't do it for you for cheap with a 1 day turnaround time. It takes me all of 10-15 minutes to convert one.
Send the ecu out the day before doing your auto to manual conversion...it'll be back before you know it. Xenocron is in NJ if you want someone reputable to handle your ecu versus someone that doesn't have a storefront.

I've seen a thread or two here on Honda-tech about converting the ECU. It's seems like basically a resistor removal or a resistor "moval". Is it really that easy? If so I'd like to do it.
Remove RP17....leave that opened, then remove RP18 and put a jumper in its place. Simple as that bro.
The RP bundle is on the opposite side of the ecu from where the plugs are to connect it to the car. If your facing the ecu with the top cover off, the grey plugs are on your left, the RP bundle is on the very lower right of the ecu.
