First step is go to your local DIY carwash with a bottle of engine degreaser, spray that **** down and pressure wash it, cause that's just gross. Then change out your obviously leaking distributor O ring

1st Your friend needs to liberally spray down their engine bay with some Simple Green (Don't forget to
cover Air Filter/Fuse Box/Distributor) Then power wash it off.

2ndRe-Condition the hoses with a rubber protectant of their choice.

3rd It appears they are having a battle with corrosion so they should take a wire brush to
the rusted parts then recoat them with a rust inhibiting paint of their choice untill
they have the time to replace them with new ones (Zinc Coated replacements if
they can find them)

Once the engine is all purdy it will better enable them to find leaks like InvaderTrax pointed out.

Good Luck!

it looks like someones civic went threw a color change...and you really need to spend hours cleaning it... loosen the three bolts on youre distributor with a 14mm i think and rotate it towards you, this will advance the timing and bring out the full potential of a stock engine.

i wouldnt waste my time buying anything for that engine.

someone took the time to paint the valve cover....while it was still on.. that's "hot" and gonna be the new trend of 2007.

The first thing you need to do is spray it down with a can of brake cleaner to get rid of some of the rust, oil and caked up dirt.
After that use some simple green at the car wash and power it off with the soap water and then rince it.
Finish up wih some tire shine after you dry it off with, not drive dry it as it will just look nasty.

with the engine bay looking that bad what does the rest of the car look like? I'm saying that if they couldnt take care of it and do it right how do you know maintenance was performed on it?

well the heatshield isn't really considered aftermarket but if you mean exact replacement parts it would be called "OEM" some good sites and prices are:

ya, you dont want to buy an "aftermarket" heatshield... you just want to take OFF your heatshield.. and perhaps buy a "aftermarket header"

such as:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Megan-Heade...wItem

Also, clean that engine REEEEAL good, that looks like crap. Buy a new valve cover gasket, and distributor o-ring, and take off that valve cover, and repaint it *if you wish* and replace the valve cover gasket, and distributor oring.

and hell, I'm sure a basic tune up on the car wouldnt hurt it either..
spark plugs
spark plug wires
definitely a new air filter! *and heck, since your switching it, might as well pull the whole tubing off, and clean it up*
oil filter
oil

Ahhh

Skip all the long as hell answers.

It's simple, technically according to the manufacturing process it's not a coupe, it's a 2 door sedan. There's no problem.

It is indeed a 2 door sedan, that's why it says on the registration 2DSD or something to that effect.

Anybody from NY will tell you the same thing that the EX coupe is marked as a 2 door sedan. Just how it is, everything is just peachy fine. Not stolen or anything. Just the manufacturing process marks .
