*BAKED* on brake dust
i know some people will read the title wrong and suggest dish soap and wash sponge should do the trick for my question but that doesnt work. that is why i emphasized bake. anyways, i have a set of 99-00 SI wheels. they have BAKED on brake dust. meaning it will not just wipe off. does anyone know what i can use to get this **** off? im afraid to start sanding away at it. hopefully there is some type of cleaner i can use to get this **** off

use any sort of wheel cleaner you prefer, or diluted simple green or even dish detergent.
then get yourself some steel wool in the finest grit you can find (usually at the paint section of your local Home Depot) and get to work. go easy as this will take off the clear on your SI wheels. but keep scrubbing and go to a higher grit pad if you feel the finer pad not cutting muster.
enjoy.

This does actually work, by the way.

my friend Korean put peanutbutter on his stock rsx rims which had really thick brake dust on them. The rims were sparkling clean afterwards. He did a lil writeup on it, i'm not sure where it is though.
