Default Rice or not....it's your call

I just bought a 93 Del Sol....unfortunately some mentally ill person painted different trim pieces in the car red (cars black). Well, obviously I can't drive around like this so.......

Here's the question

I can do carbon fiber overlays, have done them for some time. So I've put some thought to just doing an overlay on these pieces. It's that or just paint them trim black and back to stock basically.

Ricer to have overlayed trim pieces?

if its the real c.f true overlay then do it if not then just paint them semi gloss back or satin black but make sure to buy bulldog promoter so the paint wont chip

It's 12k by 12k twill weave carbon with West System resin....it's real. The pieces arent really complex so the thick weave should be ok.

If it's real carbon, then do it, but I would still take the pieces out and strip them back to black.

is this your car or honda-tech's car? if so that means I get to do burn outs on it too right?

that fact that you have to ask if something is ricey just shows that you only do it to impress other people. meaning if everyone put on body kits tomorrow you would too

in other words

you're fake

but if i was you, I'd tried to replace the parts, if I can't I would do the overlay</TD></TR></TABLE>

Hey dumb noob, I been building Honda's before you got out of junior high so keep your shitty comments to yourself. Give your answer to the question I asked and move along.

I'm simply involving my fellow Honda people, seeing what others think...big surprise this is a f*ckin forum! Alot of my preferences have changed on certain things in the last year or two. Plain and simple, don't blow it all out of proportion and get your little noob shorts in a bunch. Your answer below is all that was necessary

And for the record noob, I never owned a damn bodykit even when every modded honda on the street had one. You don't know anything about me so shut your trap. Your funkin up my thread.

Man, I'm torn....it's a split decision in here.

The carbon/kevlar is out...for one I don't have any, as to where I have 27 ft of 12k x 12k twill weave carbon. Two, the whole "color" thing definitely pushes the idea over the ricer edge in my opinion.

I think if I am this split over it I should just do the back to stock thing. If I put in the work and I don't like it, it's alot of material and time wasted.

I have a one off gauge enclosure idea...gonna go with that out of carbon. It's more original, and making that out of carbon definitely isn't rice because you have make it out of somethin.

I'm sick as hell though right now, and I only just finished the collector for the ramhorn I am making for the car. Going to start getting this project going this week though

Finishing the mani, and rebuilding the bottom end are my first things to do. The guy I bought the car from wasn't "up to speed" (being nice) and the motor was built VERY sloppy, thus why it doesn't run and was sold to me!

Soon as I get some better pics I'll hit the del sol owners thread

My bro has the c/f over lays in his Accord. They won't stick well after a while and IMO do not look real. He's removing them last I heard.

Paint or dye the pieces

Your bro didn't do it right or had them done by someone who wasn't up to par. I overlayed a couple things for a friend of mine over three years ago and his stuff is still perfectly fine. It's all in how you prep the surface your overlaying. Then you said his stuff doesn't look real...what does he have some kind of vinyl **** or something? If you overlay with real carbon it doesn't look anything but real...cause it is.

I'm definitely gonna pass....I'm getting that ricey feelin inside...lol. I was split on this, but ya'll helped me see the light. Plan B on this one....shoulda been plan A.

I am doing a compilation vid of this build start to finish. Interior, engine rebuild, manifold fab, turbo kit fab, tuning, everything. I have been wanting to do one on prior builds, and I'm pretty disappointed now the cars are gone. Hopefully this thing won't take me too long with winter and all. We'll see.
