Default '96 ITR and '98

What are the main differences regarding suspension and brakes?

are the brakes the same on both years?
besides the 4 to 5 lug hub, is the suspension different?

can i switch from 5 to 4 lug just by replacing the hub?

thanx in advance

The brakes are different on the 96 Spec vehicle. They are smaller.

262mm up front,
240mm rear,

You could swap back, I dont think the suspension is all that different. I dont know about driveshafts thou.

I have looked into swapping from 96 Spec to 98 for the increased brake sizes but its quite difficult to find a donor vehicle in the UK!

Why would you want to swap to 4stud anyway?

All the differences are explained in Hyperrev vol. 27. Only JDM.

Benmasters - I see you are from the UK. Do you have an ITR?

Yes I have a JDM Imported 96 Spec ITR. There arent many JDM 96 specs in the UK. I only know of a handful. We have a few more UK Specs thou (similar as your US model, with 4 headlights).

I come over to this board sometimes to see what you guys are upto.
If thats ok of course

There was another UK guy with a '96 JDM ITR. He posted some pictures of his car. I don't know his username anymore....

Well, call me crazy but i really dig those OZ Superlegera 15x7, they are cheap, light and really good looking.

I think there's a Prelude that uses the same front rotors as the ITR (282mm) but in 4-lug version, so brakes wouldn't be a big problem (i think), all i really need is the hub.
i was thinking of the euro civic vti hub also, but i don't know if they're compatible with the Integra.

for the back a friend of mine told me that the aerodecks civic wagon carries 260mm rotors which are 4 lug also, so would also be covered.

any ideias/sugestions?!

The SuperLeggera is a nice wheel and light too!

But I dont understand why you want 4 stud Hub??

You can get Superleggera in 5 studded pattern, I have a picture of them on a Integra Type R 98 Spec - if you want it.

I think the 15" SuperLeg only comes with 4 lugs. The 17" is available with 5 lugs but the offset is like 30 mm or something....

The OZ Superleggera in 5x114.3 is not available in Europe. Where do you guys import them. It also has no TUV when you import them for the ITR.

It was detailed elsewhere in a magazine I was reading...

the Prelude SR-V not sure what it's called elsewhere in the world...Prelude VTEC? from 92-96 has brakes that will fit since it is also 4X114.3.

It's a good budget upgrade for the 96spec and seems to be the mod of choice since the idea seemed to have originated from Japan....

98spec benefitted from 1mm larger antiroll bars, ....the upper rear "A" arms are beefier and the car sits a few mm lower.

The springs are also 0.1kg stiffer respectively front and rear...

thas all I can think of right now.....

thanx Raging,

the lude you're talking about is probably the 2.2 VTi euro version (if it's the vtec version).

i was thinking of changing just the hub, and keep everything else stock, could that be done?
this way i could get the prelude 4lug brakes.

ben,
about the superlegeras 15x7, they are only available in 4 lug pattern. 4x100.

We can get 5x114.3 in UK. that photo above could be either.

Raging Angel - Where did you read this article, I have been looking at my friends Prelude VTEC(UK)and thought I could do a swap. Do you know what exactly has to be replaced/swapped? i was hoping just calipers and discs to go from 96 spec to 98 Spec.

DarkTeg - what size Superleggeras are you after?

If they only available in 4x100 - then some Preludes did come with 4x100 hubs I am sure. Civics Definitely.

Why dont you choose some different wheels instead?

Konigs I think are nice.

I cant believe you can get a certain size in one country and not the other - that sucks!

The rear tracks are different between the JDM 96spec and 98spec. Honda increased the rear track by 10mm for the 98spec, I forgot the exact figure tho (1480mm?).

For the US models, the 98's are identical to the JDM 96spec with narrower track in the back. Dunno about the 00'-01' tho.

there's an alternative: Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 in 15x7, they're cheap and weight 6kg per wheel.

Those Team Dynamic Ones look good - I think i prefer them to superleggeras actually!

Check out Konig's :- http://www.jdwheels.com/konig.htm

Where do you people get all your information from regarding 96 and 98 Spec ITRs and the differences? We have nothing in the UK, half of our Honda people here arent even aware of a 96 Spec Type R which doesnt help if you own one.
