Default What kind of power (if any) would I gain w/ an intake manifold?

I just purchased a 1995 GS-R and had the local Honda/Acura shop go over the car. Everything checked out fine (C/R, suspension, brakes, trans, etc) aside from a cracked CV boot.

The car currently has (engine wise):
VFAC
RSR header
Apexi exhaust
AEM short ram intake

I'm getting an itch to throw some money at it and looked into doing cams/springs/retainers/cam gears, etc...but it's a little more than I want to invest right now.

Would there be any gains if I went with a Skunk2 intake manifold?

Would I lose any low-end torque?

Is this all I need to install: TB gasket, Intake mani gasket, ITR throttle cable?

Thanks.

I would spend the money to get it tuned. You will get more power out of it if you have it fukky tuned with the current mods.

So you think I should get it dyno tuned as it is? What does that run, $200 hour or so?

It seems to usually be $150 an hour.

$150 an hour.

How many hours does it usually take to tune a lightly modded car?

Can it be done with the VFAC or do I need something more advanced?

I've looked at some dyno charts in the past of tuned/pre-tuned cars and it is pretty convincing, thanks for pointing this out. The only thing that sucks is the closest dyno is 50 miles away.

It's usually an hour and a half for mild n/a engines. VAFCs won't give you an optimal tune. It's better to have your ECU chipped and tuned with something like Crome. You'll have to call the shop you want to go to to find out what they tune with and what their actual rates are. On the bright side, you can sell your VAFC to help pay for the tuning costs.

That distance isn't really that bad. You're not going to hurt anything on the way there without putting a lot more work into the engine.

What is it about the AEBS that makes it good? I read about it once but forgot.

Yeah, I'm not worried about driving the car 50 miles, I just wish there was a local shop.

Do you have any links off the top of your head for Crome?

It kind of sucks though, as I'm not sure what all has been done to this GS-R. I mean it's real clean and runs strong. But it has the aformentioned mods and:
Type R front brakes
Neuspeed front strut/firewall bar
Tein rear strut bar
Comptech rear lower tie bar and anti-roll bar
GC coilovers and I think Koni Yellows
Urethane* bushings and mounts
Stockies and wide BBS wheels with sticky Falkens (supposedly the biggest wheels that would fit).
It also had a...what is called...I think a Spoon lower brace that ties the underside
together. But of course the guy sold that.
There was also a Porche Performance cross bar w/camera mount in the hatch.

I'm sure was an auto-x car or something. But like I said, the car is real clean and checked out fine except for a cracked CV boot and I got a great deal on it.

Can you fill me in on the AEBS GSR Manifold?

PGMFI.org is probably the best place you can go.
