Default Poor Handling

I drive a 1991 Civic SI with a K20A2 motor, Koni Yellows and Neuspeed Race Springs. I am not looking for attention, this is my car. I have no sway/strut bars, I am using Toyo Proxes 4 tires, and my bushings are original (240+K). The thing handles like garbage, it is fairly stiff but feels unstable on the highway. Sharp turns at speed are dangerous as the car becomes unpredictable, and high speed braking forces the car to jerk to the right. Previously I had an EG with similar suspension and it was awesome, how do I retrieve that comfort on the road? At this point I don't want to spend much more, so I am looking for the best options for the $. Thanks!!

bushings (lower control arms, upper control arms, rear trailing arms), new tie rods, stiffer springs in the front (to help make up for the extra K-series weight), at least oem sway bars front and back, and an alignment will fix your problems.

To get started, find a cheap Si front sway bar. It will help alot.

very good advice....
if your going to go through the trouble of replacing all your bushings id definitely go with full poly bushings..Energy Suspension and Prothane are both very good companies...by far the best suspension modification you can make other than swaybars...from my personal experience those strut tower braces are mostly just for looks...i cant tell a difference with them on or off.

and while the poly bushing are good for handling.. they wont last very long. just a heads up on that. go new oem if you want them to last.

either replace the bushing with stock or with poly, make sure to only replace the rear TA bushing with the stock one only! and get a good alignment, you might not want stock specs. you might want a little toe out (1/16" each side)in the front for quicker turn in and 0 toe in the rear.

well.. i was in the market for bushing not to long ago.
and did some research on the forums.

and its pretty logic if you think about it. unlike the oem bushing poly urthane (sp).. is a harder pastic that while good for handling (since they will be less movement in the bushing..) they wont last as long because of how hard they are. From what i had seen they last a yr or two... then they tend to crake or deform.

for me it was not worth it. bushing arent cheap to replace.. (labor or money wise).. and i couldnt see my self spending the few hundred i did to get them replaced in as little as one year.

Excellent info, thanks to all. I didn't know that fresh bushings were so important. Strut/tie bars generally do nothing? I always thought they reduced flex... I had another question, does anyone have any experience with the Quaife steering rack modification? I feel like there is no steering response the way things are right now.

start small and fix the bushings, tie rods and alignment before deciding on a new steering rack. Once you get those fixed you'll be suprised at how much better it feels.
